Phortah shares again his unique, rich and emotive sound, this time on Earthly Measures. Sadaken exhibits further refinement of his familiar melancholic tonality blended with subtle, textural atmospheric elements. These five tracks are pulsing grooves that get heads bopping and hips writhing, in a very unique & intimate way.

Phortah’s vocal improvisations are being cultivated and shows up across Sadaken. Phortah says of its effects "it creates that not-quite-human sound which connects with where I feel a lot of us are at: super digitised organisms, yearning for a way back to our earthly nature”.

That image captures Phortah’s sound and journey well: a repressed, visceral, animal nature reemerging to reclaim its place in an increasingly abstract, digital, binary, landscape.

All of it suggested that the plan had failed miserably. The Venus-16 detention centre served as a transit hub for those whose fate, after grandiose crimes, was ruled in favour of the government. From here, you could get a one-way ticket – a lonely flying prison.

Rattling a bunch of keys and quietly grunting, the elderly caretaker Delacroix took the professor away for interrogations late at night and brought him back only at dawn. The entourage of the cell in the death penalty block was remarkably austere and lacking any amenities. The atmosphere reflected the impotence in front of the all-consuming system. The main suspect in the theft case of a large load of blue crystals was too depressed to even think for a second about an escape plan.

Bio:

Born in 1981 in Niigata, Japan, Takuya started his career in 2005 and has been releasing 12" singles from various labels: Adjunct, morris audio and op.disc.
He used to compose funky and minimal tracks for floors in the early days. Now he tends to draw inspiration from daily plain sights and nature landscapes. Thereby, in recent works, he focuses on creating rich and textured sounds that connote harmonies with nature utilizing the sounds captured in field recordings.
