At the beginning of the 90s a new music wave was emerging in Italy. Influenced by stylistic elements and sound expressions arriving from abroad - in particular from those english and american labels – it has created the bases for an innovative sound destined to leave its mark for generations to come. It was a sound close to the Deep House atmospheres coming from Chicago, Detroit and New York. A sound made of powerful basslines, punching drum machines, dreamy melodies and incredibly sensuous vibrations.
Dream House, Italo House, Piano House are names often used to identify this new scene, but it could be simply summed up in one word: "Underground". 
Inspired by an innate sense of freedom and experimentation, a generation of Italian DJs and producers envision the sound of the future. The music becomes a muse, enchanting and unifying. The movement fires up  in the clubs. The record shops act as a sounding board. And the alignment of all the planets generates an invasion of celestial bodies.

"Ciao Italia” wants to be a tribute to the artists that wrote this story. Artists that were forced to use many different aliases that often even themselves have forgotten and certainly less celebrated than their colleagues today.

A rhythmic journey to rediscover what has been, what continues to be and what will be, “Ciao Italia” tells a story that still sounds incredibly current, whose reverberations continue to be the object of veneration among DJs, clubbers and music lovers of new generations. As confirmed by the new productions ideally inspired by the iconic sound of the time, testimony of an Italian avant-garde alive and vivid not only in memories but more than ever in the here and now.
Not only a "musical style", but also a way of approaching reality characterized by enthusiasm, a global vision and a spirit suited to the most eclectic and boundless creativity. 

Born from an idea of Daniele "Shield" Contrini, with the art direction of Stupefacente Studio, the project took shape in a double vinyl format with an insert, signed by the journalist Elia Zupelli, which reconstructs an era through the voices of the protagonists, photographs, interviews, rarities and dazzles from the 
dancefloors. So, while the vinyl slides under the needle, the hope is to be able to grasp the atmosphere and live it again for a few moments, clinging to the indomitable charm of  the "underground" grooves: a mnemonic flow from the past and a driving force for a new course projected into the future.

Starting again from the last groove of the vinyl. Starting again from the rhythm, from the energy, from a newfound need for sociality and tribal ritualism, for empathy, sharing, and dreams.  Starting again from the last Summer, when everything had yet to unfold. And finding yourself now with another Summer about to begin. New Tracks, Nnew Protagonists, a New Journey. Going further into connecting Two Generations, distant yet neighboring: the one that blazed the trail in the early Nineties and the one that continues to follow it Today, with a futuristic perspective, moved by a renewed ferment and an enthralling desire to express themselves and flow in unison, after the long silence of the pandemic. 
The flattering feedback received both from the audience and the critics after releasing the first volume of "Ciao Italia" inevitably inspired us with the idea of a sequel. A new volume animated by the same spirit and attitude as the first one: not a nostalgic or commemorative operation, but a propulsive thrust for a possible evolution. In continuity with the first part of the project, "Ciao Italia – Volume 2" also wants to be a tribute to the artists who wrote this story. Artists who were often forced to use multiple aliases, so many that they can't even remember them all. A story that still sounds incredibly current and that has had the merit of breaking that stereotype of xenophilia of which our country is an undying victim. Much more than just a "scene" it can be described as a mental state, a lifestyle, marked by unifying electronic pulsations, exotic and dreamy, ecstatic and liberating.
Surfing between the past, present and future, “Ciao Italia. Generazioni Underground - Volume 2" delves further into the origins of an era whose sounds and atmospheres remain an endless source of inspiration today. This time involving other seminal producers protagonists of that all-Italian golden age: from Cirillo, Kamasutra (Alex Neri and Marco Baroni), Savino Martinez & Claudio Coccoluto, Ivan Iacobucci, Riviera Traxx (Flavio Vecchi and Ricky Montanari), Tc 1992 (Roberto Intrallazzi and Marco Fratty, here in the remix version of the great Marco Trani) to Tony Carrasco (Exotica), Mauro Ferrucci and Christian Hornbostel (Nikita Warren), Pastaboys (Rame, Uovo & Dino Angioletti), Leo Rosi, Gianni Bini, Jonathan Tedesco (Beat Foundation), Fidelfatti, T.R.A., Oneiric & Vortex, Leo Young, Steve Mantovani, Daniele Mad & Dan E Mc, Corrado Rizza, Harley & Muscle. Smallville sub-label, Fuck Reality, have welcomed back Oslo based producer Frantzvaag to express the “fuck reality” sentiment through four lush cuts of classy Norwegian deep house. Having premiered an understated little groover (Saile - ‘What I Feel’) from the other Smallville offshoot Down By The Lake last week, it’s fair to say we’ve fallen victim to the label’s emotional pull. Hailing from Hamburg, Smallville prides themselves on a coherent yet eclectic aesthetic, manifested in everything from eccentric artwork from illustrator Stefan Marx to memorable sloganeering, and of course the signature sound of shimmering deepness. Naturally, the Fuck Reality releases are no exception: EPs that are quirky and refined all at once.

Fuck Reality 05 is as exceptional and varied as we dreamed it would be, a credit to Frantzvaag who has been increasingly noted in the Oslo scene. Frantzvaags music breathes life into the dancefloor, sanding down the traditional Chicago deep house sound with crush filled samples and lush pads. Deservingly, his debut EP, Fuck Reality 03 yielded support from reputed names like Session Victim, Move D, and Jacques Renault. Something tells us that this EP will do the same.
