VP Records, Greensleeves, and 17 North Parade celebrate the legacy of reggae singer and producer Keith Hudson with the release of Flesh Of My Skin, Blood Of My Blood! Enjoy this specially commissioned all-vinyl mix from Mark Professor of Mighty Ruler Sound, based in North London. Mighty Ruler is a revival sound system, rebuilt from original and salvaged sound system audio gear - all analog, all vinyl selections, 100% authentic. 

The Mighty Ruler was originally established in 1962. It was 'parked' (decommissioned) many years ago. Fortunately, Selector and Sound System enthusiast Papa Eli from 'Wreck It Up Crew' acquired the sound. It was an amazing find, which galvanized the support of members and engineers from various other sounds. This collaborative project brought members of different sounds to join together for the restoration project, including members of Fatman, Soca Saga Boys, Stereo City, Gemi Magic, Trinbago, Active Force and the Wreck It Up Crew now have the sound restored and ready to hit the road! 

This mix was compiled by Mark Professor, a member of the sound, who hosts a 7-inch vinyl-only night called The Magnificent Sevens. He is also a founder member of the Selectors Showcase, a weekly YouTube vinyl-only platform. He has a long history of being an avid record collector and playing at many events and different crews.

Back in 1997 Shifta was called upon by the then notorious Dogstar in Brixton,for his record playing ability. There was an emergency situation as The Dogstar regular Dj had failed to show up. With 150-200 party people in the place for a Saturday night,this was Shifta's chance to show and groove. 4 hours into the night he's taking the roof off,but by this time,running out of records... Assistance came just in time with more ammunition. The night was such a success Shifta was offered a residency for the first Saturday of every month. With the help of fellow Djs,friends and guests the 'Pact' night ran for four crazy years. With a change of Dogstar ownership came a sound limiter and a ' no dancing on the tables policy' forcing the Pact night to move elsewhere. AKA/The End was the next port of call.. Shifta was also playing at other underground party's accross London at the time..Mass & The Crypt in Brixton,The Juction,Scar Studio's (Camden). He was also a resident floor rocker for south Londons ' Til the cow's come home ' . Whilst in Brixton Shifta found his talents needed once more,but this time it was Alabama 3...Shifta's scratching skill's were put to use on Alabama 3's debut release ' Woke up this morning '. This lead to a guest appearance at their live show at the Fridge in Brixton. Keeping his ear's on the beat's,his record collection continued to grow. In 2002 he was asked by Dj Move Ya to help set up and run one of London's finest dance music record shop's Know How Records,with 3 concecutive win's for best retailer,the shop supplied the latest records to Djs worldwide...inc the likes of Greg Dread(Dreadzone),Plump Dj's,Barry Ashworth,Deekline,Hannah Holland,Justin Drake,Normski..plus many more. For circumstances beyond their control Know How Records closed in 2009. Taking rather a back seat in today's dance music scene Shifta is sticking to his underground roots and still spin's at various party's and intimate club/bar events.
