This started as a jam session inspired by Blade Runner and wound up a wild trip through synth echoes and crunchy drum breaks. I'm on a kick now with creating new tracks and then working some of my favorite MCs into the mix that typically wouldn't rap over a sound like mine. This time it's the excellent GZA, from his 1999 track "Publicity". The sample chop worked out so well that I saved dropping this until 4/20. Spark up your favorite herbs and toss on your headphones, this one will take you places.

Solid Steel (28th July) In Hour 1 we welcome Avey Tare from Animal Collective, celebrating the release of his latest solo album 'Eucalyptus', which is out now on CD and Deluxe Double LP through Domino. Described as 'Recommended listening for dawn or dusk. An electroacoustic movement through leaves, rocks and dust', it was written in LA and recorded by Animal Collective’s Deakin. It also features chamber orchestration arranged by Eyvind Kang, plus musicians Angel Deradoorian and Jessika Kenney. His mix mix takes us through a sublime selection of music including tracks from Andy Bey, East New York Ensemble, Quasimoto, Stanley Clarke and Herbie Hancock.
