ZZK Records presents Uji’s “Kinto”, the second single from his upcoming album and film TIMEBEING.

Adding a bit of nylon-string guitar to the mix, “Kinto” transports the proceedings straight to the Andes, where Uji’s deep vocal timbre channels spirits of old as it moves through a bewitching fog of whirling woodwinds, chunky basslines and percolating drum beats.

Kinto will be released on May 25th with accompanying music video

Bolivia Manta are a Bolivian group created in France in 1977 by Carlos and Julio Arguedas who perform traditional music of pre-Hispanic and contemporary music of the Andes, particularly that of the Aymara and Quechua speaking people of Bolivia and also traditional music of peoples of Peru and Ecuador. Bolivia Manta albums is an encyclopedia of Andean folklore, these dances and songs are collected in different parts of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, and the vast majority of tracks are authentical performance of traditional rural music. They perform their music on indigenous flutes, panpipes and drums, as well as stringed instruments introduced since the Spanish conquest. In 1981, the group wins the Académie Charles Cros Grand Prix[1] for the album Winayataqui. Four years later they receive a Laser d'or from the Académie du disque français for the album Pak'cha.

From their humble start, file-sharing musical ideas and producing their first album in separate countries during the dawn of the internet, Novalima is now a live musical force revered worldwide for breaking boundaries and uniting seemingly irreconcilable genres, communities, and generations. They have created an inspiring movement and revolutionized the music scene in their native Peru by bridging a longstanding divide between the mainstream and the minority Afro-Peruvian community, who have struggled against discrimination and cultural dissolution for generations. 

Over the last two years, Novalima created their newest offering, Ch’usay to be released September 14th on Wonderwheel Recording. The album's name (voyage in Quechua, the language of the Incas) signals Novalima's latest musical exploration, ancient sounds and instruments from the Andes and the Amazons. This time around, Novalima goes one step further to enrich their sound by collaborating with new generations of local artists from the peruvian music scene. The album also has offerings from global artists such as Esteban Copete (Colombian Marimba master) and Kumar (Cuban rapper based in Barcelona). 

The debut single, named after the album, (to be released on July 13th) is the perfect example of the the new sonic voyage in which Novalima has embarked. Ch’usay, a futuristic huayno dub, includes astonishing vocal collaborations by andean soprano Sylvia Falcon and pioneer Quechua rapper Liberato Kani. 

The 15th Anniversary celebrations will also include a limited edition release of Novalima's first three albums Afro, Coba Coba and Karimba, on color vinyl for the first time, followed by an international tour through Europe and North America. 

Novalima has garnered worldwide critical acclaim from mainstream (NPR, UK Guardian, Wall Street Journal, La Presse, Metro, Billboard) and underground media (Giant Step, Remezcla, Nat Geo) alike, delivered legendary performances around the world at festivals such as Roskilde, WOMAD, Pirineos Sur, NYC Central Park, Montreal Jazz Festival and Chicago’s Millennium Park, earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, and were featured in cult filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s hit Mexploitation movie Machete.

La letra de las canciones tienen como contenido la vida cotidiana del pueblo maya actual. Retoma conceptos filosóficos de cosmogonía maya sobre la vida en general. Las características de la obra es que tiene canciones cantadas en maya, acompañadas de instrumentos con características prehispánicas.

Los responsables de este grupo son padres y padrinos de los integrantes del grupo denominad "TUMBEN K'AAY" que inicio su misión en los años 1987. Nickodemus' last album "A Long Engagement" was released May 2018 and made its way around the World’s listening devices & dancefloors via dj’s and an extensive tour. Now he's back with a remix album that takes the original recordings back into the clubs with slow rolling remixes from both Chancha Via Circuito & Lagartijeando as well as soulful house mixes from DJ Spinna, Pablo Sanchez & Sammy Bananas. Bosq (Whiskey Barons) takes his mix of “Livin' Your Dream” to heavy afro-reggae disco, while Sagaan (Andreas Saag) pushes “The Crow” into deep Detroit analog territories. Also weighing in are Umoja, who strip down “Mystic Molay” featuring Innov Gnawa, and The Spy from Cairo, with a cosmic electro-disco version of “Inmortales” featuring Fémina. The overall global fusion that Nickodemus is known for was taken to another level into the clubs by these carefully chosen producers.

About the song:
This song is set to a traditional Afro-Colombian Bullerengue rhythm and orchestrated in a very delicate way. An homage to disappearing trades killed by modernity.  The lyrics were inspired by an encounter in 2005 in a former fishing town in northern Colombia, where Perditi met a fisherman weaving a net, worrying  about the few fish left in the area. During the  2014 GKO tour in Colombia, Perditi went out looking for the fisherman but he was long gone, the town swallowed by history, transformed into a tourist paradise.

VelkomBak is the second album from Juno-nominated live touring sensation Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra (GKO). It features a dozen original compositions that greatly expands the musical palette of the band, with strong influences from India, the Andes, Quebec, Spain, Latin America and the Balkans, as well as other popular music styles such as ska, big-band jazz and funk. A uniquely Canadian recipe, connecting disparate cultures and traditions through the common thread of cumbia's rhythmic language. The songs on the album also support the storyline of the new choreographed and staged live show.VELKOMBAK
