The full project drops next Wednesday, but until then here's the first single 'Nuse.'

Emamkay had this to say about the release - "ALPHA is my second project and comes  in collaboration with UK indie label Shimmy Records. Compared to its predecessor THETA EP (which was self-relesed) I’ve decided to explore and augment the electronic and experimental elements to this project. The EP also features a space-age hip hop sound, which some people describe as my ‘signature sound.’

I currently live in Soweto where I have a home studio setup. I enjoy music with lose structure. That’s why Flying Lotus, John Coltrane - whom I sampled on a track called Trane, Soul Quarrians and Norvis Jr are my current influences.
I’ve added aspects of my personality to this project using skits and surreal interludes. This gives the project more life, and projects my sonic ambitions."

First track from the compilation comes from @klsr_b.

Having released his two tracker ‘the problem is over / friloop’ earlier this year, we thought it was only right to get him involved on our first compilation. The Brighton based producer comes through with his track ‘Over For U,’ a fusion of analog synths with drums that just make you want to nod your head.

Second track from the compilation comes from Paris based @lafayetteellis.

We first released Lafa's 'Make It Up' as part of our free download series a couple of years ago and new we had to hit him up when putting together this compilation. His track 'Good Intentions' keeps you on your toes, switching up 4 or 5 times and keeping things very interesting.

Track four from the compilation comes from LA producer @brianfolk with his track 'Addicted.' We first introduced Brian Folk a couple of years ago with his EP 'Circle Work' (https://shimmyrecords.bandcamp.com/album/circle-work) and this track is a continuation of his hip hop influenced sound.

“Good To You” sees two of South Africa’s brightest upcoming producers; @ECHLN & @IIndman join forces, bringing the soulful vocals of Shirah Cheezer along for the ride. 

ECHLN’s upbeat take on Hip Hop & R&B, taking cues from the likes of The Neptunes has been making waves across the globe with previous releases on the likes of Darker Than Wax and Souletiquette, alongside the single “Figure It Out” released just last year on Shimmy Records. 

Likewise IIndman has found a home on Darker Than Wax. His 2015 debut “La Bella Vita” features a collection of Lo-Fi beats that wouldn’t be out of place on an early Flying Lotus record. 

Shirah Cheezer has worked with ECHLN on a number of tracks and their chemistry is undeniable, with “Good To You” being no different. The track combines lush synths with almost military like drums to form the perfect backdrop for Shirah to effortlessly glide over the beat.
