ACID LIFE 07  mixed by K.Rise  Brussels February 2022

Back in early 2019 I compiled some of my favourite from that strange hard-to-define electronic music niche called called “Balearic house” into a special mix called https://soundcloud.com/burnout-sumner/cosmic-coastline-mix

It’s those special kinds of dance tunes with retro-appeal, warm sounds, bright chimes, a certain psychedelic appeal and lots of jungle noise samples in there. Well, basically what 808 State started with “Pacific State” back in 1989. 

I’m a sucker for that sound and over the past years my collection grew bigger, so during a Covid quarantine earlier this spring I suddenly realized that I should produce a sequel and three years later it arrives. Being titled “Cosmic Coastline II: A Tropical Trip To Balearic Bliss” this mix follows the usual style of blockbuster sequels: it’s bigger and more complex, lasting almost three hours. I envisioned it like a journey that starts slow but picks up groove along the way before slowing down again. It invites the listener to dive deeper into the sound and psychedelic nature of it … and it takes its time which is necessary to unfold its full potential. It really is a trip and you are invited to deep dive into it (no substances required).

In it you’ll find some of my favourite pieces of electronic music from the past three years, including songs from Mazo, Kasper Bjørke, Lone, Earth Trax, Bufiman, Reuben Van Smith, COEO and - most importantly - from myself. Something I couldn’t offer on the first one. Lots of goodies and hidden treasures and - without sounding selfish - I think it’s a really great set for the summer season and all outdoor activities you have in mind for the next few weeks.
