Happy 2025 to all the Idlers out there! We're back with our first mix missive of the year - and it's a doozy. When it comes to edit records, so much has already been done. These London-based boys decided to ditch the well-trod paths of Disco, Boogie & Soul to dive headfirst into the devil's maw that is American Rock & Country music, making some of the best we’d heard in awhile, subtly turning some of the stodgiest 60's & 70's shitkicker jams into glorious glitterball anthems. The fact that they're kickass DJ's to boot made this decision a no-brainer! Ladies & germs, please welcome to the Idle Cellars Mix Series stable - Flying Mojito Bros! These two fine gents were extremely gracious - if not eager! - to tackle the Idle Cellars brief and we all have hit the jackpot. Presenting "Americana Pacifica" - we would call it Balearica re-imagined through the lens of US AOR, soft rock, country and more. Accompanying the mix is this message from FMB:

Rugged, saline guitar jams and sea-smoothed rock – from really recent finds to long-cherished shoreline treasures once popped in our pockets for another day, another day. "While I’ve made many early morning expeditions to Robot Heart, this was my first adventure playing the famous bus. It was a bespoke musical experience and a true honor to play and become part of the family. Dust storms had been blowing amok that night, so many parties had been cancelled; yet so many fabulous people came out to dance and make it an unforgettable party.

My sound explores the spaces between groovy & psychedelic. I always try to bring a deeper experience to the dance floor without taking things too seriously. I want people to experience a heightened connection with the music, but most importantly just laugh and have a good time. I hope that vibe shines through in this recording. Much love."

Shiny Objects is the founder of San Francisco’s Strange Attraction Records, Om Records, Smoke n' Mirrors, Up All Night, Monarch & The Great Northern. A seasoned purveyor of deep grooves, he’s produced and released over 100 tracks and remixes under the Shiny Objects moniker and other aliases. As a DJ, Chris has shared his sound across dance floors in mysterious lands such as San Francisco, Black Rock City, Tulum, Ibiza, Dubai, Tokyo and Belden for over 20 years. Also a core member of the Burning Man camp Disco Knights, this Shiny guy is no stranger to bringing deep psychedelic vibes to the playa. When he’s not bringing the funk, Mr. Objects is hard at work running the Om label and getting shit done in his role as founder at SF’s Monarch nightclub and Up All Night.
