SPECTACLES (2024)

So, I had a birthday recently, and, as a gift to myself, I remixed one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite new bands (and homies), Sylvan Esso. In the spirit of Bentley Mode and T4GB, this is my initial effort at producing, recording, and mixing a song, so, it has elements of a first-time: a bit awkward and imperfect in certain places, but hopefully, worthy of seconds:). Twilight for Gladys Bentley is Shirlette Ammons' debut solo album which follows  June 2011's "And Lovers Like," a collaboration with The Dynamite Brothers (Eastbound and Down) that featured guest appearances from Justin Robinson (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Kelly Crisp (The Rosebuds), Daniel Hart (St. Vincent) and others. 

T4GB is a re-imaging of 1920's blues singer and 'bulldagger,' Gladys Bentley. Shirlette's goal was to 'create an album that re-imagined the raunchy prowess of Gladys Bentley using the music of prowess and posturing of our day which is Hip Hop." 

T4GB features production by The Apple Juice Kid (Wale, Azealea Banks, Camp Lo, others), Bueller Tout' nou, and Max Bedroom.
