Visionquest have made a big impact in their first two releases on the imprint from Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and Shaun Reeves. Now they fill up the dancefloor with light on ‘Dark Song’ EP from the compelling Tale Of Us.

Engulfing the listener in a luscious wall of sound from the onset of ‘Dark song’, Tale Of Us take an abstract and harmonious approach to their music. Understated beats and yearning vocals stretch the imagination to new heights in a new strain of house music engaging the senses through warm tapestries of sound.

Using similar low-end whispered sounds that resonate in a deep place, ‘Circle Of Love’ is a magnetic slice of dancefloor music. Its skipping beats and rippling bass enthralls but it’s the sensual vocal that gives ‘Circle Of Life’ a special edge and adds an element of mystery. ‘Valiant’ completes the package with an epic dose of bubbling beats and pads, inventing a masterpiece hybrid of techno and deep house leaving you spellbound.

Tale of Us are Berlin-based DJ and production partnership Karm and Matteo who are currently re-writing the rulebook for deeply moving, emotional electronic music. Together they share a sonic vision that pulls together elements of house and techno with influences from pop, nu-disco and even rock music. While all of their productions are instantly recognisable as Tale Of Us, these range from straight-up dance floor jams to low-slung ambient tracks and more abstract compositions. While both originally hail from North America, Karm was born in Toronto and Matteo in New York, they moved to Italy as children, which is where they met and formed the close working bond that they now share.

At present they are based in Berlin, an inspirational frontier, which has given them numerous opportunities to build relationships with fellow musicians who share their unique musical outlook and resulted in this special Visionquest release. Prior to this, Tale Of Us tracks could be found on labels such as Barraca Music, Cocoon' and Life & Death (the Tale Of Us remix of Thugfucker ‘Disco Gnome’ on Life and Death was hailed by Mixmag as one best records of 2010) and have put out various remix collaborations with fellow Visionquest label mates Shaun Reeves & Ryan Crosson. 2013 saw Silicone Soul celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their Darkroom Dubs imprint. Launched in Glasgow back in 2003, the DRD stamp has become a mark of quality and seen many established names exploring deeper realms whilst also unearthing fresh and exciting global talent. 

From Fabric to Watergate, The Standard Rooftop to Club Bahrein Buenos Aires, the Scottish duo have celebrated their disco-decade with a string of '10 Year' parties spread across the last 12 months, building on Darkroom Dubs already strong global reach. 

To round off their birthday in style Craig and Graeme have asked some of the label's main acts and strongest supporters to contribute a track for a new compilation. Artists including jozif, Ryan Crosson, Uner, Gary Beck, Of Norway and Simon Garcia all feature in the collection that Silicone Soul present as a snapshot of the future sound and musical vision of Darkroom Dubs. 

Due for release Feb 24th 2014 on double 12" vinyl and download.

Seth Troxler returns to his Play It Say It label next week (Thursday 24th November), with a massive remix of Dino Lenny & Doorly’s ‘The Magic Room’. We’ve got the exclusive premiere of the track above.

Troxler and Lenny have turned in their edit of the track together, which teases with a disco riff and spoken word musings before a huge piano solo takes over towards its close.

Troxler launched Play It Say It in 2014, and has since released artists including Butch, Jesse Rose, Leonardo Gonnelli and The Mekanism on the label.
