FIRST ELECTRONIC SOUNDTRACK FROM YUGOSLAVIA REMIXED BY 11 ARTISTS FROM 9 COUNTRIES

Oscar winning director Dusan Vukotic made first science-fiction film in Yugoslavia in 1981. While receiving a modest critical reception at the date of release, „Visitors from the Galaxy“ gained a huge response from the audience which culminated in recent years with a proper and growing cult following. The groundbreaking electronic soundtrack by composer Tomislav Simovic was also first in its own genre: never before the complete score was done entirely using electronic equipment in a combination of melodic and experimental style. Croatian label Fox & His Friends Records released restored edition of original score five years ago. It was their debut on the label scene and marked their journey on a discovery of long forgotten and lost classics. 
As a tribute to a composer Tomislav Simovic, who also did worldwide known Professor Balthazar cartoon series score and more than 300 other films, the Fox & His Friends label bosses Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco Radio Show) and Zeljko Luketic (film and music critic and curator) decided to call the best of contemporary musicians to do their reworkings, remixes and reinventions on the Simovic original. Every artist, 11 of them from 9 countries, answered with a firm “It’s a yes from me!” and embarked on musical journey that included not only original soundtrack from “Visitors from the Galaxy”, but also additional sounds from the Tomislav Simovic sound archive used in Vukotic film. The result is amazing collection of 13 musical pieces that go to a variety of electronic genres: IDM, techno, acid, leftfield and ambient. More importantly, the new collection of reworkings called “Visitors from the Galaxy Revisited”, plays as a compact whole in its entirety. It works on different levels – as a soundtrack album, a DJ friendly clubbing wax and album for home listening full of unexpected sound twists and sonic surprises. This is truly a genre breaker that can make your home a club or your club a distant planet in a strange East European sci-fi cult classic.
Thanks to the involved artists Fox & His Friends Records continue to break the rules and receive, as composer Tomislav Simovic and director Dusan Vukotic already did, a tribute to the hard work of finding, restoring and releasing the hidden gems from the history of ex-Yugoslavian music. Alen & Nenad Sinkauz (Croatia), Ali Renault (United Kingdom), Anatolian Weapons (Greece), Credit 00 (Germany), Drvg Cvltvre (Netherlands), Goran Vejvoda (France / USA), Heinrich Dressel (Italy), Repeated Viewing (United Kingdom), Security DJ (France), Tapan (Serbia) and Timothy Fife (USA) spared no time and their talent to pay a homage to Tomislav Simovic in a truly unique way of new analogue, abstract, electronic and synthesized dance floor friendly music. Similar compilations are rare: Steve Reich, Ennio Morricone and Peter Thomas Orchestra are some of the most famous ones who received similar treatment, making this mammoth project worth attention and careful listening. Tomislav Simovic, who sadly died in 2014, is also the first composer from ex-Yugoslavia region to be recognised among contemporary international electronic musicians as someone to be inspired with.  
“Visitors from the Galaxy Revisited” comes in limited edition 2 x LP vinyl with 13 remixes and more than 78 minutes of music.

Underground Pacific’s latest offering, “The Only Good Wave Is a Next One”, feels deft and elegant. Through its post-punk and new wave underpinnings- tap-hissing kicks, chunky synth-wobbles, and bleached vocals- clear, fluid top notes give the sound a modern feel. The results are refractive yet moody, careful yet powerful, mature, and considered.

This compilation features a choice array of international artists from Italians Amarcord (MEET Compact Club, Ombra Int’l) and Italo-disco frontrunner Marcello Giordani (50% Marvin and Guy, known also as Italo Deviance) to Leipzig-based artist-musicians New Hook (Riotvan, Live at Robert Jonson, Ombra Int’l).
Californian Underground Pacific’s labelmaster Cantor, Robert E. Livingood (of Ombra Int’l), and Mexican Alf Champion (Fucanglong, Optimo Music) contribute tracks from across the Atlantic and complete the release’s lineup.

Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, Hoshina Anniversary has previously appeared on ESP Institute, Musar Recordings, and Young Marco’s Safe Trip, fusing traditional Japanese instrumentation with House & Techno sensibilities across his productions. Arriving now on Brooklyn’s toucan sounds label under his Shifting Gears moniker, the DJ/producer turns in two Jazz and Hard Bop inspired club-not-club tracks on ‘Drum Nation’.

Leading the release, title cut ‘Drum Nation’ sees loose drums and jazz scales meet crunchy production, delivering a deeply musical and punchy house track. ‘Average Hoshina Sounds’ sees more delightfully lo-fi production as wonky stabs and glistening pads culminate in an energetic mid-point build-up, making for a high energy dancefloor-focussed accompaniment to the title track

Mr. Sutherland EP is an allusion to a famous Australian keyboard virtuoso with the same surname and even though keyboard solos might not be that lavish and jazzy when compared to their counterpart, they are definitely there and will take you for a dreamy ride in outer space.
Most of the track names in the album are organic and refer to the living world, so we hope that while listening to these compositions you will feel how intricately everything is interlinked not only here on planet Earth, but also in all vastness of the universe. Enjoy the trip!

It is time to discuss fundamentals. For his second appearance on Laut & Luise Constantijn Lange shows his interpretation of human mannerisms that contrast so much while being closely entangled. Able to deliver both pain and satisfaction alike, its apparent simplicty may deliver the purest bliss while the complexity of its impact can at times feel devestating: Power & Love. For the first part of this pair Onosizo stands by to passionately proclaim and address the true nature and dangers of power. Argentinian DJ and producer @shittechno delivers his ‘Solo En La Pista’ EP on Seattle’s @BottomForty Records this June, accompanied by remixes from Ali X x Ximena and Fausto.

A renowned event series and DJ collective formed in Seattle, comprising of artists Nark, Pavone, Sappho and Hyasynth, Bottom Forty has rapidly established itself as one of the cities key names within underground dance music through their carefully curated, fully inclusive warehouse events and forward thinking parties. Having released their fifth EP on the newly formed label in mid-2017, here we see the imprints first release of 2018 delivered by Buenos Aires raised producer Nicholas Larransio, aka SHIT, in the process welcoming the first EP in a series set to focus on unearthing and showcasing the ever developing sounds of South America, with remixes courtesy of Mexican talents Ali X & Ximena, and fellow countryman Fuasto.

‘Elle Quiere Ser Raro’ takes things into darker territories, with a hypnotic and entrancing lead synth guiding programmed 909 drum shots and eerie chants throughout, unveiling a production made for hazy, early morning dance floors.
