Going back to what we said about the music industry and the question of what is it actually for now that they have no product to manufacture? It's probably true that in the past there was a begrudging acceptance of the need for hype and bullshit because record companies had product to shift. The dependant shops also had an unhealthy interest in seeing a healthy flow of needy innocents ready part with cash for the latest over talked-up trending toss of the week. Any simple analysis of those times would conclude that hype was already completely out of fucking control by the end days of product and current analysis would now conclude that it is still completely out of control but this time there is no need for the snakeoil because there is now nothing physical left to shift. So why? What are record companies actually for now? Why don't they just call themselves PR companies, be honest with themselves for the very first shitshocking time and accept that their final and total allegiance is to the malignant Saatchi cultures? At the same time could they please stop pretending that they give any shits about music when clearly by the time that Hendrix was dead they never did, or ever would again? 
Why do we have to still tolerate an industry whose only reason to exist seems to be completely based on it's cynical ability to spin weasel words about rubbish music and then miserably for loads of us that same rubbish music ends up being all we will ever hear everywhere we go for the rest of another disappointing year?
