DJ Johnny Blue @ Psy Fi Festival 2018

The last guest mix of 2018 is a big one, and it comes from none other than the Bristolian wonder girl (and office favourite) Shanti Celeste (@shanticeleste).

This session sees Shanti move through some softer soundscapes, a series of really special ambient tunes, and soothing, mind-altering melodies. Although predominantly beatless, make sure you collect the energy-booster at the end; there's some dubbier sounds and a bit of slo-mo house to push you through those hazy post-Christmas days. We absolutely loved this one. 

This mix is our sign off for 2018, but stay tuned for a packed 2019.

Maor Hasbani from Tel Aviv is the man behind the new promising electronic project, Gumi.

In the late 90's Maor stumbled upon the electronic side of music, 1st in the more classic genres including Rock, Progressive, Jazz & Fusion.

A Few years later Maor began his long a fruitful career in the local psychedelic trance scene, pretty much in all levels...from production to promotion...

Just by understanding the title word Gumi, meaning elastic, gives us the expectation to a flexible fluent atmosphere of sounds, and surely the result is such. A project with a mix of a new eastern oriented music, not in an obvious way, but rather in a creative blend of clubby style, bold analogue baselines that convey a warm feeling contrasted by 303 acid lines. Diverse, Tribal with ethnic drops.

Elastic sounds with a gloomy psy touch and old school analogue sounds.
Beautiful melodies in well-told stories. Maor Hasbani is putting up a terrific blend of fused styles into a strong concept with endearing storytelling.

Gui from Argentina, after venturing into several groups and instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals), Gui discovers the world of musical production and founded Expedizion in 2008.
Since then the project works as a base of sonic experimentation, always looking for a sensitive, emotional, mental and spiritual expansion, without forgetting the rule of the 4 sacred Lís: Listen, Live and Love Life
“Gui’s psychedelic downtempo dub music has ascertained a certain character which is unlike any other. Taking influence from the likes of IDM and Dubstep and infusing them with the most cunning structures of world music. Melodies and glistening textures which suggest to the listener, a time of ritual and deep spiritual awakening and understanding is beginning to envelope our collective third eye. The natural rhythmical percussion shall transcend your body upon a dance which flows like the unpredictable fall of fragrant oils, heated and then condensed as it slides down sheeted glass.”

Trumpet player and multi-instrumentist, since 2008, Cyril aka Lakay welcomes the listener into his musical universe toward senses and emotion awakening

Influenced by traditional and underground musics, his live act is a trip into dub & dubstep, downtempo trance and psychedelic jungle beats. A colorful mixture of electronic synthesizers and traditional instruments offers an energetic but yet meditative music, favorable to mind traveling. Electronic loops blend with jazz trumpet melodies, Thai seung and Reunion Island percussion , guitar grooves and oriental saxophone for a rich and alive multi-cultural cross project.
His second album : “Métis’Sage Community” by hadra and salamah prodcutions in 27.05.2015 represent his numerous influences. For this project he meat a lot of music players and singers of different world to make a colored sound.
In 2019 he come back with a richy and energical live, between oriental and jazzy music A new journey for a new destination…
Third album comming soon, more colaborations for a world psydub music always so colored and dynamical. You will can heard lot of instruments like trumpet, spanish guitar, thai seung, sax, banjo, violin, drums, harmonium, cello, singing and peoms.. Release planned in mai 2020 on Hadra Altervision Records

VLASTUR returns with an exclusive mix, recorded in Goa during lockdown. Expect few new track from him, and older favourites as well.

Vlastur started his journey into music as a Bass player. Back in the mid-80's, he was a founding member of the Cohash Funk, an underground funky Athenian group. In 1998 alongside Frequency Freak, fellow Cohash funk guitarist and Spiris, a dubby drummer, formed "Apeuthias Syndesi" now known as Direct Connection, a dub experimental laboratory. They released "Dub Infection" in 2007. Even though he started as a Bassist in Direct Connection, he was the main FX Sound Engineer of the band.
In the meanwhile, he was also working as a session musician with various artists and bands. In 2004 he teamed up with Palyrria an ethnic-electronica band and in 2005 recorded "Methexy" with them and has played in many of their gigs.
The (InterAxion Dub-2009 Equation recs) project was the first full-length work of Vlastur. Influenced by all his beloved sounds from Dub to Dubstep through Psy, Ambient, Drum n' Bass and Traditional Mediterranean sounds!
In early 2015 Parvati recs released the EP "Parvati In Dub by Vlastur".It's about an RMX project by him in Dub with some of the very well known tunes of Parvati label artists flavoured by Vlastur's sound!!(second part is on the way).
He participated like the bass player in the superband "Novelty Engine" with the artists Ajja, Cedric "Congo" Myton, R.ZEE Jackson, Steve Hillage (System 7), Miquette Giraudy (System 7) , Dick Trevor, Ott and Dymons on August of 2015 and 2016 at the main stage of OZORA Festival in Hungary.
Except for those artists, Vlastur has co-operated with artists such Gaudi, Bombay Dub Orchestra, Irina Mikhailova, Etnica, Tengri, Jef Stott and others.This period he is working on a new live improvisation project called Herbal Orchestra with Merv Pepler (EatStatic), Basil Brooks(Gong,Steve Hillage Band, Zorch )and Gabor (Operenzia)
Vlastur Dub Band is the fully live project for him. The active members right now are: Dark Elf (Synth/Machines) , Adil Smaali on vox and Moroccan instruments, Nikos Korkovilis on drums, Nickolas Yiakoumis on guitars and special guest for our last gigs has been Daniel Symon a.k.a. Dymons on percussions.
On September 2019 he released the EP " Vlastur Dub Band in Trance"(Parvati Recs) which is based on the live performance of the band at Ozora Festival Hungary (main stage) 2018.
He has played live in many countries all over the world by his self or with the band.
Vlastur believes that the sound evolves constantly while the vibe remains the same, from Rock n' Roll to Punk and from Dub to Psy.
