Little boy laid in a manger bed.
Who knew that he would be Lord instead?
Angels praised in a sky so bright:        
The shepherds saw a wonder that night. 
And Mary gave a sigh, 
Saying, O God, who am I     
To bring the Saviour nigh to Israel?

Two thousand years ago, heaven’s love came down
So that the peace of God could be given round  
And so the dead could rise, the lost be found in his grace.       
He would live 33 years of a sinless life
Overcome his own flesh and the devil’s strife
’Til to the cross he went, his heart still rife with the Father’s face.
The Son of God, the Son of God, the Son of God!

Little boy grew to be a righteous man,
Fulfilling his eternal plan.
Teaching truth, sounding out a call:
Salvation’s door is open to all.
His people give a sigh, 
Saying, O God, who am I
To bear the Lord on high, Emmanuel?

Two thousand years ago, God’s power moved
Through his humanity, his love he proved
The wicked world was by his life reproved, an act of grace.
He would live 33 years on this good, green earth
Knowing full well the meaning of his birth
And in his death and resurrection, we see our worth and the Father’s face.
He’s the Son of God, the Son of God, the Son of God!

Oh, the Son was born this night, and he brought with him the light
Peace on earth, good will to men, and he’s coming back again
The Son of God is born ~ oh, we’ll worship in the morn
We will worship all night long ~ he has filled our life with song
The Son of God, the Son of God, the Son of God!
