BIIA is a Portugal based artist, who tells stories through techno, sometimes markedly energetic, sometimes harsh and mental with abstract compositions, conquering the dance floors with her techno selection and charismatic energy. She found electronic music when she visited her cousin's music store at the age of 14, driven by an emotional curiosity that is now so mirrored in her creative process. It's the way she discovered to pass on feelings and build relationships, involving us in a spiral from which we don't want to break free from. These are energetic and hard-hitting stories, told from techno and its approaches.

The Brvtalist is proud to present a new mix from BIIA. The Portugal-based artist delivers pure emotion, traversing all shades of techno in her sets from 90's rave to raw, heavy destruction. We were instantly drawn to her productions and hosted two of her tracks on our channels this past year. With a host of huge appearances across Europe on the horizon, we can't wait to see what's next.

In time for 9/9, here's… 999999999.

The Italian duo's reputation as a rave demolition crew has made them one of the most in-demand acts on the global circuit. Too nosebleed for 'business', and too close to Defqon.1-level hardstyle to be hard techno in the classic sense, 999999999's headline sets practically require a new category to convey the sense of scale: let's call it megatechno. 

Following a string of unsubtle yet undeniably impactful hit records in the late 2010s, Carlo B. & Giovanni C. became fast favourites of a generation who prefer their 303 cranked to 11. Their rampant velocity arrived at the right moment, proving parallel compatibility with acid lifers and younger audiences making the leap from EDM to hard dance. Flash forward to 2024 and they're flanked by flamethrowers while mashing down colossal crowds at festivals like Awakenings. 

Here, they purposefully strip it back and emphasise the core elements of the 9x9 formula—high drama, jackhammering kicks and the kind of tweaked-out acid air sirens that would make the likes of Hardfloor and Miss Djax scrunch their noses in approval. In other words, non-stop wrecking balls trained squarely at the foundations of a hangar near you.

My next attempt. Trying out some new gear - Xone 42 I just got from Jandro, and a couple of 1200's connected to Traktor for the first time.

I tried to do a more mellow, melodic set. Found later that it had no chill. The goal was to explore the deeper dimensions of modern techno. This mix includes tracks from Planetary Assault Systems, UVB, Unam Zetineb, YYYY, KVD, Edit Select, Sven Vath, Deepbass, and Abdullah Rashim. Enjoy!

Lost In Ether | Origin Series | Olivia

This time we invited another Polish hero - Olivia.

BIO:
Known to many as one of Unsound’s resident DJs, Olivia has been one of the key figures of the Kraków club scene for the past 14 years.
The originator of the fabled Kraków club night – We Are Radar – conceived and orchestrated with her confrère Chino, Olivia remains fully committed to growing the local scene – as a member of the Radar collective, resident and main booker for Szpitalna 1 – Kraków’s leading underground club space, one half of DJ duo Chrono Bross.

Recenlty, together with collaborators Chino and Steffen Bennemann, Olivia has launched a hybrid live/DJ performance project Morskie Oko.

Her reputation has steadily amplified over the years thanks to her idiosyncratic track selection and excellent technical skills. Through raw and dark techno, liquid acid, deep cosmic reaches, the simplicity of electro and the warmth of house, her sets shine with originality and a strong belief in the sound she delivers.

She draws inspiration from both music and the world around her – from the future shock of Detroit techno, via the distinctive Dutch sound, ebm, industrial, cold wave, acid, electro, synth and house, through to the images and ideals of science fiction and technological progression. The infinity of space, the unfulfilled promises of robot designs and the unexplained mysteries of paranormal phenomena all inform her approach to music and her search for sound.

Ukrainian producer Stanislav Tolkachev made his Dekmantel Festival debut in August, delivering a good dose of  atmospheric, gloom-heavy, darkened, and very experimental techno.

Shlømo is a French  producer and performer who has gained notoriety for his extremely varied musical output – ranging from straightforward techno bangers to ambient and IDM. He’s resident of the well known parties POSSESSION and key Tbilisi club KHIDI.
First appearing in 2013 on his own label Taapion where over the span of 7 years he released many projects, and appeared on numerous EP’s and compilations. 
After releasing on established labels as Delsin or Arts, and performing on key venues as Berghain, Awakenings or Concrete,  Shaun Baron-Carvais decided to launch a new label  SAIKE and new project with Hadone called Viper diva.
As a performer Shlømo is just as multifaceted. His dynamic live and sets embody his unique take on techno integrating rave, powerful beats, breaks and IDM.
