Here’s my remix for the Adam Ten - 15 Days BPM Remix competition. 

As a huge fan of the Maccabi House Label, it’s been a goal of mine to submit a track with them. So stoked to finally be able to do so!

I started to work on this remix just before Pangea Festival in Cape Town, South Africa. It was the best inspiration ever to go there and play some of my own original tracks on the same stage as Adam Ten and Mita Gami. Experiencing their music live and feeling their energy definitely gave me a whole new angle on the track I wanted to create.

Although as an artist it’s always testing working towards a deadline (hence my entry the day before closing), I feel like the track is a great blend between my style and the original. I really tried to focus on creating my own version and sound design as much as possible, not relying on the original stems and letting my signature psychedelic edge shine through. Enjoy :)

The morning fog cleared, the sun came out and we got behind the helm of the Sails of Asahi at noon Friday! 

Thanks to all who wiggled with us and made this set so memorable, and a special thank you to the whole Pangea and Sails of Asahi tribe for building such a beautiful stage and platform for us to celebrate together. 

It was an honor to open up this stage and to be present for all the incredible music to follow.

SHMIKESSS is a Cape Town based cinematographer, DJ and producer that has always been drawn to the immersive narrative of the audio visual experience. It shows in his music taste - guiding listeners through a profound journey of soundscapes. Inspired by a deeper psychological narrative of collective consciousness, he aims to create sounds (and imagery) that celebrate the magnificence of life in all its forms. SHMIKESSS' sound is a dynamic fusion of groovy, racey, bouncy beats and rolling bass lines, shifting effortlessly between ethereal moments and bursts of pure, high-energy euphoria. As well as his individual act, he also performs as one half of @thelostboysza duo.

With only a year and a half into production, SHMIKESSS has seen releases on the legendary Berlin label - Katermukke and its sister label MUKKE, as well as a handful of self releases. His distinct sound and contagious energy has quickly launched him as a DJ, artist and events co-ordinator around many festivals in South Africa, as well as abroad in Hawaii and Germany.
