Here’s my remix for the Adam Ten - 15 Days BPM Remix competition. 

As a huge fan of the Maccabi House Label, it’s been a goal of mine to submit a track with them. So stoked to finally be able to do so!

I started to work on this remix just before Pangea Festival in Cape Town, South Africa. It was the best inspiration ever to go there and play some of my own original tracks on the same stage as Adam Ten and Mita Gami. Experiencing their music live and feeling their energy definitely gave me a whole new angle on the track I wanted to create.

Although as an artist it’s always testing working towards a deadline (hence my entry the day before closing), I feel like the track is a great blend between my style and the original. I really tried to focus on creating my own version and sound design as much as possible, not relying on the original stems and letting my signature psychedelic edge shine through. Enjoy :)

The Lost Boys at Oo-aa-sies (Afrikaburn 2023)

I had the privilege of performing my first ever live set at the 8th Day of Creation (@8doc_music) at Afrikaburn 2024 between 10-12pm on the Saturday night. The theme of this years Burn was "Creation" and so it felt so fitting to play all original music at this incredible art piece. 

The stage was built by an international team from Berlin and Cape Town, and depicted a pregnant mother with the earth as her belly, a space of renewal, reconnection and rebirth.

I used Ableton Push, Novation Launch Control XL, Akai MPK Mini and Playtronica's touch sensitive midi hardware which I connected to a mushroom to trigger sound.

Thank you to 8Doc for having me as a part of your beautiful stage and thank you to all those who trekked to the far end of the playa to dance with me.

Resonance

@pangeafrequencies has always held a deep place in my heart - a truly sacred space. Being there as part of the build team of the Canyon was an unforgettable experience, and it was an honor to open the floor with my set.

When I first heard the theme Brave New World, it resonated deeply. I felt compelled to craft an entire journey of tracks inspired by what it means to carry oneself through and embody a brave new world. For me, music has always been a portal for expression - a way to communicate what words often can’t. 

This was only my second live setup ever, and pushing myself to play a full two-hour set of all-original music was an intimidating leap. But every moment of magic shared in that incredible atmosphere with that crowd made it more than worth it. For those asking about the mushrooms - yes, they were an integral part of the set! I used playtronica to connect my synth to the mushrooms, producing some unique spacey, and psychedelic sounds. You can check out my instagram for more details on this.

Everyone - the response to this set has been overwhelming, and I’m so grateful for everyone’s kind words and energy. This has been my most meaningful and ambitious creative project to date, and I’m humbled to have shared it with such an open-hearted audience.

Still landing after one of the most magical weeks of my life. A dream I’ve been holding for years came true - I played my first set at Boom Festival. On the opening day, I had the privilege to play a set after my dear brother Deacon at Funky Beach. It was an honor to share some of my unreleased music, music from our label @tmrwsmdy and also from some producers I am inspired by.

A whole-hearted thank you all the crew at Boom for creating the most incredible container for transformation, thank you to Golan for the opportunity and trust, and thank you to every soul who danced into the sunset, tuned in and reminded me why I spend so much time doing this.

Seeing a crew of smiling friends from all over the world dancing made the moment so much sweeter. To me this music, this ritual - it’s transformational and healing. Endless gratitude to this path, the music and this community. Thank you Boom!

Oliver Koletzki - Tankwa Town (SHMIKESSS Remix)

Still landing from a few weeks away in the Karoo Desert being part of this magical tribe of Pangea. This year had the privilege to perform at Panthalassa, an amazing new stage design built by the Red Telephone Kollektiv. Panthalassa was the name of the ocean in the times that Pangea was the supercontinent - and with this years theme being ‘Whispers of the Deep’ I wanted to channel a set that journeys deep into the depths of the waters of our subconscious. Incorporating live biofeedback from water into my synths was an exciting new challenge - navigated some technical difficulties but ended up getting some nice sounds from it.

This soundscape was inspired by the past few months traveling through Europe - being exposed to music at festivals like Waking Life and Boom Festival’s Gardens Stage.

I wanted to bring that essence home - the feeling of unity, expansion, and surrender that those spaces evoked for me and translate it through my own story. The result was a faster, more hypnotic live journey that pushed me to explore new territory while still holding onto the emotional threads that I aim to incorporate into my sound.

The set featured some new tracks with artists who’ve deeply inspired me - Arutani, Jedidiah, Status Zero and Aaron Zeederberg - so grateful to collaborate with them.

The aim was to curate something both intimate and infinite - a reminder of how these shared creations can open portals beyond language.

A slow-burn journey from The Yurt on Sunday at Kunda Valley.

Following Alex’s Yoga Nidra, I knew I wanted to guide a sound journey that moved from immersive introspection into embodiment. This set drifts through ambient, dub, breaks, field recordings, and warm psychedelic textures - a blend of influences from the past season and some ambient sketches I started in the spring - exploring the deeper, dreamier side of my sound.

It was beautiful to witness everyone emerging from meditation into movement with stretching, some contact dance and a renewed energy for the day.

Special thanks to the homies for the support and to the entire Yurt crew for holding such a magical space.

SHMIKESSS (Live) - Kunda Valley 2025 - The Yurt

Michael "SHMIKESSS" Veltman is a Cape Town–based cinematographer, DJ, live performer, and producer whose sophisticated sound creates immersive narratives. Drawing from themes of collective consciousness, his sound blends dub, melodic, atmospheric, and psychedelic textures with progressive house, minimal, and deep techno.

As co-founder of Tomorrow's Monday Records (@tmrwsmdy), one half of @thelostboysza duo and creative director and curator of @pandorafestival , SHMIKESSS is building a community that bridges Cape Town’s underground with a global network - hosting transformative events and fusing music with cinema, photography, and visual art.

His rapid rise has already seen releases on Berlin’s iconic Katermukke and its sister label MUKKE, alongside South African imprints Back To Funk and Imprint, as well as his own Tomorrow’s Monday. With a growing catalogue of unreleased tracks tested exclusively in his live sets, SHMIKESSS is gearing up for multiple EPs and an album on the horizon.

Known for boundary-pushing performances, SHMIKESSS weaves storytelling, deep emotional resonance, and unconventional methods into his sets - including his innovative use of mushrooms to trigger sound through wired biofeedback frequency.
