For Jesse Somfay music has always been about communicating and sharing immense feelings which he finds impossible to convey in any other way. His Borealis alias was born as a twinned satellite to his work under his birth name. Much like conjoined twins, the two share the same heart and breathe with the same lungs, and even though they speak of similar things, they do it from two different vantage points. According to Jesse, it is better for something to be felt in whole than to be defined and reflected upon in approximation, and this album - his sixth to date and second under the Borealis handle - is a truly wholesome, boundless, gorgeous emotional experience on both the end of its creator and its listener. 

Glittervoice is Somfay's most energetically intense work to date. It is both euphoric and dysphoric and the music itself cannot be pigeonholed into any particular genre - hints of techno, oldschool trance or rave complement each other just to ultimately get lost in an artfully crafted trademark sound. It’s easy to allow this multifaceted, hyperlayered, continuously shapeshifting aural multiverse to deprive you of any form of reason, activate all senses and carry you where no music has before, regardless of where you listen to it. Glittervoice’s 16 tracks encompass everything from visceral warehouse techno to stylish ambient compositions via rapid hypnotic drum loops and trance synths of cosmic proportions, all filtered through his unique etherial aesthetic. 

Having something equally introspective and weighty yet exceptionally club-friendly is a rare feat that could soundtrack any modern techno mecca - be it a big dark room or an open air festival. 
The emergence of Borealis meant an unexpected turn for Somfay, but at the end of the day, much like its worthy genre-defying predecessor, Glittervoice is yet another album not of this reality - a sonic guide to entering “the flow”.

A master of lovelorn emotional surrender, Volor Flex brings his narrative to an end with Sabo, his fourth and last album under this alias. The reasons are only his to know, but Volor Flex certainly won't be this producer's final musical persona. Parts of Sabo already hint at subtle changes in direction and style - natural consequences of artistically perfecting oneself - showcasing even more of Volor's expert manipulation of samples and composer skills. 

Volor Flex's reputation and popularity have been steadily on the rise for the past two years; he has released 3 albums and 3 EPs, all representative of what it means to brilliantly adapt the specifics of a signature style while living up to the staple sound itself. The man who has been referred to as Burial 2.0, Alex Frolov of Syktyvkar, Komi Republic, Russia delivers us a complete, 20-track long, intensely introspective album, possibly his finest work to date. 

Sabo is laden with familiar bittersweet moods made of crisp, dancy garage breaks paired with artfully constructed soundscapes as fragile as glass that Volor peels back until they break apart and fade away. All twenty tracks enclose the darnkess of the boreal forest, the harshness of the tundra, the anxiousness of isolation, the solace of being lost in thought and the memories of a loved one. Volor Flex adds a new expanse to the timeless comfort area that he's been building and has now completed, a place of relief and daydreaming the listener will repeatedly want to come back to.

Danish producer Asger Brunn Hansen’s second EP with Origami Sound's moody imprint, Dark Clover - Intense Appreciation - is a collection of free-flowing, radiant aural constructions filled with daytime reverie and piercing tenderness. Obviously the work of precise hands, these 6 electronic poems combine exciting textures, some soft echoes, some harpsichord & cocktail clinks, some Nordic Burial-tinged soundscapes, pieces of broken glass scattered on the ground and an everpresent magnetic fuzz that creates emotional timewarps.

The shape on the cover of the EP is not exactly odd, since it’s the kanji for ‘big, large’ seen from a few different perspectives, but Asger adds an extra connotation to it, telling us that this music is about observing the various daily phenomena around us - common sensations that surprise us through their shapeshifting nature, all of them tributary to the quiet contemplation of ordinary life.

A monotonous yet very lush search though 5 different instances of alone-time, all lived in one day, all to culminate with She Is Here, when tension loosens and the sweet relief that signals the end of loneliness finally kicks in. Regardless of your mood or how comfortably you’re seated, you’ll find this a good place to get lost in intense appreciation.
