Daily Drops

I hope to someday finish animation I started years ago of flamingos in the rain dancing to this song.

Synth harp, guitars, clarinet, cellos, and bass set to hit hop, conga, and bongo beats at a tango’s pace of 70 bpm. Rain audio recorded live in December 2023.

I wrote an extended version of this track more than a decade ago during a time I was experiencing intense physical pain. As I fled inwardly into creativity to escape, this music narrated the discovery of a quiet harbor from pain.

Later I became amused watching a wildlife documentary of flamingos and their mating dance. As they marched together in step, abruptly turning their heads and beaks known as head flagging to an unknown beat accentuating their synchronized rhythm, I imagined flamingos dancing the tango. Initially I had ambitions to create an animated short with Tango In The Rain as the soundtrack. With time constraints, I leaned more toward the immediacy of digital music-making than animation and discovered pain relief in the process. And as a fan of old movies, this tune evolved into my fantasy score for a different Singin' in the Rain type of musical of animated dancing flamingos.

This song started as a full composition on all instruments by Rich. He asked Josh if he'd be interested in a collaboration with it. Josh jumped at the chance to share it with the Eclectic Collective. So, he invited the gang to join in, replacing most of the original instrumentation, and adding some new. 
     After Ken had added his driving, foundational drums, Josh added his bass to match. JJ soon after cranked up the funk-o-meter by adding his clave and screaming organ. Then, Josh added a guitar solo, which comes in right after Rich's intro. Stephen was up next with his badass licks in the third solo. Then Tez got a hold of it, and ripped a hole in the ether with his guitar in the last solo.
  Ken was generous enough to produce and mix this for us. And what an outstanding job he did, too. We hope you enjoy listening to this song as much as we enjoyed making it.

Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (March 30th, 1746 – April 16th, 1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker  He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.  His paintings, drawings, and engravings reflected contemporary historical upheavals and influenced important 19th and 20th century painters. Goya became a court painter to the Spanish Crown in 1786 and this early portion of his career is marked by portraits of the Spanish aristocracy and royalty.  Although Goya's letters and writings survive, little is known about his thoughts. He had a severe and undiagnosed illness in 1793 that left him deaf, after which his work became progressively darker and pessimistic. His later easel and mural paintings, prints and drawings appear to reflect a bleak outlook on personal, social and political levels.  In 1807, Napoleon led the French army into the Peninsular War against Spain. Goya remained in Madrid during the war, which seems to have affected him deeply. Although he did not speak his thoughts in public, his feelings can be inferred from his “Disasters of War' series of prints.  Other works from his mid-period include the “Caprichos and Los Disparates” etching series, and a wide variety of paintings concerned with insanity, mental asylums, witches, and religious and political corruption.  His late period culminates with the “Black Paintings” of 1819–1823, applied on oil on the plaster walls of his house, the Quinta del Sordo (House of the Deaf Man) where, disillusioned by political and social developments in Spain, he lived in near isolation. Goya eventually abandoned Spain in 1824 to retire to the French city of Bordeaux. Following a stroke that left him paralyzed on his right side, Goya died and was buried on April 16th, 1828 at the age of 82.

Hi everyone.

After three weeks sick, he seems to be starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel (That's what we say in Spain...).

My precious kidney stones have prevented me from focusing on songwriting and my commitments to some friends here, and will continue to do so for a while...

But my spirit regains energy and that's why I leave you here a composition from almost 8 years ago that I don't remember having published before.

It is one of the most complex electronic parts ever made.

It's true that I remastered it a few years later in my second mixing studio......yes, in my second car with BT.

I hope you like it, while I hope to expel two of my beloved stones from the four I have had since the last month.
