04 Selenophilia

This is a song that comes deeply from my heart. Morten, the wonderfully skilled and talented producer, had prepared an instrumental version of this track some time ago, and I revisited it a couple of months after I had lost my dearest furry bestie, Lumi cat. 

I miss her every single day, and after hearing this track again I started to pour my heart into lyrics and vocals, whilst thinking about Lumi. On the day we lost Lumi, we went for a walk and had a (half a) pint of Guinness outside a pub. When I raised my glass for Lumi, I looked up and saw a shooting star. It felt comforting, as if she was flying free and comfortable with the stars.

Some connections, whether humans or animals, touch our heart in a profound way and when their time is up as Earthlings, they leave a huge void when they are not physically here anymore. I have to keep reminding myself to think what a happy life Lumi had, and how privileged I was to have her in my life. Her first family gave her up when she was 10 years old and she got to very nearly 18 years of age, so we shared around 8 years with this wonderfully sweet character that Lumi was. She used to love listening to me sing (thank you for the encouragement!) and often joined in. I know she would have loved this song and been in her happy trance with a drop of happiness on the tip of her nose (this was an obvious sign of her happiness and she had the droplet on her nose very often ❤️😻).    

I wish you comfort if you are experiencing a grieving process. Time does its bit for the healing too. 🙏 And thank you for listening.

In my opinion when producing your recorded music maybe think of live playability. I feel it's a more authentic reflection of your abilities keeping that in the back of your mind when adding something. I always try and make it possible to express and that will allow TBD to become a great live act in the future as well as the studio work it is so far. All I need to find is the souls to do it with now 💪🏽🧬🎶

I don't know about you but it hurts me very deeply to see the indifference people are starting to show music with thoughtlessness. It is the job of true artists to passionately defend and spell out what makes musical character and how it moulds our culture and our individuality. Otherwise we are complicit in allowing a dystopian future unfold. FUCK THAT

I'll only start making more and more powerful passionate songs about this until people realise what stands to be killed! Enjoy your honey moon period I have more musical bombs then any program can ever manufacture. We have our RAW now here's the DAW.

Further thoughts...
I talk about evolution a lot in music. One because we all need to tune into it properly in my pea head opinion. Also, music I believe is tied to our behavioral and cultural evolution more then we realise I think. A very small percentage of humans connect to scientists that explain our reality properly so hence don't get the fruits of those deliveries in an acceptable amount of detail. The very large majority of us do connect to music so I believe this right here is the best portal to connect people to good ideas about real life, the human condition, Earth and the Universe. That is maybe the most important reason we have to fight for it to not lose its soul because no matter creed or level of ego... At some level we generally keep the door open to music. It is the universal sender of love when conversation stops working. It needs to be protected by us all and that absolutley includes people who are thoughtlessly embracing the computer and becoming it's tool instead of the other way around. It's lmiting their skill development because of that or if you are just taking advantage of the status quo you are limiting the thoughts of young people trying their best so please think properly about it all 🙏🏽🫡🔆🤍

This song began as Carl's tribute poem to our drummer, Ken. Carl came up with the chord progression and started a project, to which he invited the rest of us. This is the third song Eclectic Collective has done that is a tribute by Carl to one of our members.  We couldn't feel more honoured than to be the subjects of his wild and boundless creativity.
  Fittingly, Ken was first in line to add his magnificent drums. Once we had drums, Josh had something to work with to add his bass, which he did shortly after the drums were up. Mark paid the project a visit next, helping out with a bit of production editing, and dropping in a mad percussion solo using his VST timbale drums. Stephen jumped in soon after, adding the melodic electric guitar riffs that appear throughout. Not to be outdone, JJ added some sonically thickening electric piano, as well as the throwback psychedelic synth that pops up towards the end. Finally, Tez came along and added the electrifying solo that appears about a third of the way in, as well as the one at the end. 
  Once the recording was finished, we turned it over to Stephen to mix in his always professional manner. 
  This song is all about our very talented teammate and brother, Ken, and it is well deserved, too. As mentioned, this is the third song from Carl about one of us. It's hard to describe the feeling of having someone who you respect take the time and energy to think about you in such a positive way as to produce a song about you. Then to have all your buddies join in to amplify it to a solid song is just mind-blowing. We are all very grateful to Carl for not only sharing his music with us, but for his thoughtful consideration of each of us as subjects. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
