Greetings to the SC community. Today I'm excited to share installment #5 in the ever-expanding collection of Stone Catcherye/GrevusAnjl collaborations. Stoney (https://soundcloud.com/stonecatcherye, https://stonecatcherye.bandcamp.com/) is a joy to work with. He's a wellspring of thought provoking musical ideas. And his lyrical messages are next level stuff (in my humble opinion). :)

This song's message really resonates with me (and I suspect it will for many of you as well). It's about that internal conflict between wanting to remain peaceful amidst the chaos, and wanting to scream and rage at all the ugliness. And then of course, wondering if any of it makes a difference anyway.

I personally think it does (and I have a feeling Stoney agrees).

But I also feel like the value of the high road is not always immediately evident. In reality, I feel like the high road is the far more difficult path, because it flies in the face of the ego (and that little fellow loves to be right). 

The problem is the ripple effect. Using 20 year old, ‘angry at the world’ Justin as an example… sure, everyone clearly understood my point. They also knew I was hot-headed, venomous, and worth avoiding… and that is the element that sticks for most people; “not what you said or did… but how you made them feel.” (quote by Maya Angelou).

So, while the desire to lash out at the world (as self-vindication) seems enticing to the ego… it’s gonna burn you in the long run. When I have the wisdom to not engage in conflict, the win isn’t always immediately evident… but it shows up in the peace that follows; not because I gave in to the battle, but because I had the wisdom to not start a war. And that might be key to our survival in this new and confusing world; having the wisdom and compassion to work toward peaceful ends… even if it means letting the ego take a bruising once in a while.

So without further ado… Stoney and I offer you our latest sonic creation, ‘Silent Riot’. We hope you enjoy. :)

Well folks , this is a change of direction . I heard Blaffy from Namibia on SC and thought " I wonder " It's a mixture of styles and cultures , and we think it really works , hope you do to ! We have another in the early stages , so watch this space boys and girls ( and anyone in between ! ) Loads of tracks lined up , collabs with Gaz Brownie/Nat Daniels , Andrea Brennan , and Tony Harris so far , me and Charlotte are working on a couple , so it's a busy old time !

one upon a time we went to the House of Nanking restaurant and as we sat down a quarter-pounder cockroach strolled down the counter. nobody was bothered and we stayed and ate 'cuz the food was so damn good. still a favorite and inspiration for this exotic musical dish called House of Nanking Blues.

Started as a kind of Raga--Jo created some lovely handmade words- and Stephen and his beautiful Duesenberg Guitar made some amazing droning magic to complete the vision--

@sonic-textures: First, there was amazing music made by STONERJAZZ. Then, I composed a poem and integrated it, surprising myself with having written the first 'love' poem in a long time - and to Snow White of all fairy-tale people! To highlight it all, TEXMEX SHAMAN made the music ring out even more beautifully. Eventually I created some artwork, inspired (by some reason I don't grasp myself at the moment) by those expensive vinyl imports from Japan. It might have to do with how much I value Jeff's and Stephen's guitar playing and creativity. It's a thrill ride to collab with those two experimental musicologists ;-)

This is the latest in a group of tracks based on brutal acoustic guitar riffs in very open D tuning, recorded during the first lockdown with a RØDE usb microphone, but (and here appears human stupidity in all its glory) without even the support of a metronome. In these last months I tried to give them a sense. They remain extremely imperfect, full of errors, of skipped notes, of rhythm losses. But in the end, they do not disgust me.
