The music I dream of is a work that expresses a landscape where all kinds of music are mixed together. I think the day will come when I can make one. I looped a funky bass and it looked good with a Japanese flute, so I finished it all at once. At the end, I do a little improvisation on the saxophone.

“Contrapunctus III” was completed in February 2024 in Fairview, TX. The work is in three movements: Rondo, Variations, and Finale'. Performance time is about 20 minutes. I am excited about collaborating with soprano Maribel Villarroel and arranger and pianist René Calderón. The lyrics are from a Pablo Neruda poem about Easter Island, "XXII La Isla". This poem is from Pablo Neruda's "The Separate Rose", translated by William O'Daly. The Foundation of Pablo Neruda has granted permission.
