In Some Unexpected Way

After picking up and falling in love with the low whistle this year, I wanted to compose an Irish folk style song for which I can play and record most of the instruments. So this is what I came up with.

This is a little holiday treat for everyone. Stephen came up with this instrumental with his friend MJ, with the intention of making it an open collab. I've literally never played a Christmas song before, let alone sung one for a recording. This was a lot of fun, though, singing the familiar melody and words of this classic. Big thanks for Stephen and MJ for sharing this with me, and all of us. Happy holidays to you, whether you celebrate Christmas, a different holiday, or no formal holiday at all during the winter solstice, I hope you enjoy this time of year. This is an old Jerry Jeff Walker song from a live album that Josh's dad played countless times while driving around in his his old pickup truck while he was growing up. Josh decided this year's musical gift to his father would be a recording of this song, which his dad has always loved. When he asked his bandmates in the Eclectic Collective to help him with it, they all generously and enthusiastically agreed to do so.

  Josh began the song by laying down the piano you hear throughout. He then added the bass before asking Ken to lay down the drums. Ken learned the song very quickly, and added perfect drums to it. Stephen then added his solid foundational guitar. Then, Josh went back in and added the mandolin before singing the whole thing. Before it was done, however, Josh tapped JJ to add the piano solo after the first chorus, which he did with grand style and flourish.

  Once it was in the can, Stephen was kind enough to mix and master it in his always professional manner. 

  Josh is very grateful to his bandmates for helping him give the gift of music to his dad once again this year. His dad has alwasy supported him with his music, from the time he was a little kid, and is very proud of his musical skills to this day. We hope you enjoy listening to this

this song is the first one i composed in my recording studio after a long period in countries like romania, croatia and germany and my return to argentina where i have my big recording studio! today is a special saturday night and the typical summer moon, that is to say, it's getting hotter in our country since we're living in a summer climate! returning to argentina was quite sad because i found a country full of political corruption and a lot of poverty! to tell the truth, this is not the argentina that we all know! political corruption is the order of the day and even more so with my mental health problems, it's something that affects me a lot and i don't wish bad on anyone, quite the opposite! i hope the argentine people can be happy since there is a lot of unemployment and mainly the poverty rate has grown notably!
