"It's Hopeful Time Again" (v2, 2023)

A new version and arrangement of my earlier song, a.k.a. ”It’s Xmas Time Again”. I experimented with some different chords, inversions, voicings and chord progressions etc. and this is the result!

This was played by me using the Korg SGProX digital stage piano as a master keyboard. The main keyboard sound here is from the Yamaha Montage 8 (the great and ever so lovely Yamaha TX816 Electric piano performance which was converted from the original TX816 patch), layered with Gospel Musicians' Neo-Soul Keys Studio 2 (Dyno Rhodes) and Keyscape (Roland MKS-20). Other sounds that I have been privileged to use come mainly from the great UVI SonicPass instrument collection and the Arturia V Collection. The drums come from Native Instruments Abbey Road 80s Drummer. 

Recorded and mixed using Cubase Pro 13. Mixed with Cubase, with some very significant amount of help from iZotope Neutron 4. Mastered with iZotope Ozone 11.

Very skillfull performances, that made this song possible in the way it is now. It’s been a great pleasure and honor to collab.

During an odyssey I recently undertook, I discovered this snippet of text in the Museum of Literature in Dublin. It’s from "Ulysses" (1923) by James Joyce (1882-1941) and I liked it immediately. The passage comes from the episode "Cyclops", in which the novel's hero, Bloom, opposes division and prejudice.

The picture shows the very first printing of the first edition of the book, exhibited in a display case on the third floor of the museum.

Jim wrote on his soundcloud:I wrote this song last year with Lillian Mareddy but her vocals weren't recorded properly, I couldn't sync them up correctly. So I remixed it in collaboration with Saskia, an amazing vocalist from Belgium, she stepped in and did an amazing job singing this very sexy and difficult song! I toned down the lyrics a bit but it's still very highly suggestive, so if you don't like sexy funky erotic songs then don't listen to this one. I added new sound effects to the mix, the moaning and groaning is not Saskia. I will be dropping the video on July 4th on YouTube with an age restriction on it, the video is pretty wild. Patrick/DjArtw2001 (@djartw2007) and I now present track 6 in our current collaborative album "Galaxy Universe" (2024).

The track was created in September 2023 (initial composition, recording, arrangement and mix by Patrick/DjArtw2001 in MAGIX) and 23 April 2024 (subsequent composition in GarageBand, further additions, arrangements and final mix by Alex M in Logic Pro) and posted on SoundCloud on 24 May 2024 (by Alex M).

The artwork cover for the track zooms on a part of an oil painting by Patrick/DjArtw2001 of 7 January 2024 that was cropped from a photo and annotated using Mac OS Preview by Alex M on 3 February and 24 April 2024 with final version of 21 August 2024 - in coordination and agreement with Patrick/DjArtw2001.
