Another year has passed

FUSION

This is the latest song from the album Wou-Wou & the Wormling, Stricknice, Bitzone, and I have been working on. Like all the rest of the songs in the set, this one began during the start of the pandemic and reflects the changes in political perspective that were happening in society, and continue to this day. And, as with the other songs, I started this song with an unreleased demo from Wou-Wou and created a 1 minute outline which I then often passed on to a guest collaborator. When it came time to fully work on the track, I expanded on the original idea, along with the guest collaborator stems, until a full song was arranged. I then passed the bones and organs of the song to Stricknice and Bitzone to add any additional muscles and flesh they believed in until it was finished. I am so blessed to work with Wou-Wou, Bitzone, Stricknice, and all the guest collaborators on this inspired set, that one day will be complete. 

May everyone find something authentic to themselves to believe in.

Another track I published by Rocky Bee Inc. which I dissolved years ago.  Can upload this track because I play all the instruments.  Getting a feel for my new label.  

I am going to do a super distorted master for my other site.  Might interest you if you get into that sort of a thing.

If I remember correctly, a radio was keen on playing but said they though Talking sounded like Fucking. Real nice lady but she asked me about that many many times!

This track is a little nuts.....

If you've ever battled a raccoon, this is the song for you, sung from the perspective of the perpetrator. Raccoons are wily little buggers and more than a little guile is needed to control the movements of an animal that has been trapped in a cage before.

Debated with myself a bit on adding more instruments and sounds but in the end decided that less was more. The "rhythm guitar" is a distorted saturated synth and the "lead" is a Logic Pro Heavy Metal guitar manipulated with the pitch stick on my synth. The difficult part was getting the swing on the drums right and the ADSR right on the main synth, modulation and LFO. Also played a bit with the compression to get a breathing sound.

About the raccoon - that battle is ongoing - physical deterrence is now in place.

The raccoon, also spelled racoon and sometimes called the common raccoon or northern raccoon to distinguish it from the other species, is a mammal native to North America. It is the largest of the procyonid family, having a body length of 40 to 70 cm (16 to 28 in), and a body weight of 5 to 26 kg (11 to 57 lb). Its grayish coat mostly consists of dense underfur, which insulates it against cold weather. The animal's most distinctive features include its extremely dexterous front paws, its facial mask, and its ringed tail, which are common themes in the mythologies of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas surrounding the species. The raccoon is noted for its intelligence, and studies show that it is able to remember the solution to tasks for at least three years. My niece Sam has always been a wholly free and singular spirit, something which enables her to fully embrace life and live it exactly how she pleases.  For his proposal of marriage, her partner Tom arranged for a busker to play ‘Here Comes The Sun’ (her favourite song) as they walked along the beach one bright Sunday morning.  They decided to tie the knot on the Isle Of Wight, a small island set off the coast of Southern England and known by locals as ‘The Jewel Of The South’.  For various reasons, none of the band are able to travel to the ceremony, which is taking place today, on the 27th. August 2024 so, as means of both apology and compensation, I decided to write a song to commemorate the joining together of two profoundly unique people.  We hope our gift will always help remind them of this very special day on their Island of Dreams.

Most of my songs are connected to events from both past and present and as I searched for the catalyst that would light my path to a song for Sam and Tom, my mind alighted on something that happened at my 60th. birthday party.  

In the traditional Reeves’ fashion, live music was an essential part of the celebrations.  
To get things going, Gal and myself played a few Cripple Club songs, my brother Bri’s kids Joby and Blue did a couple of theirs until we eventually reached a point where it seemed there were more people on stage than in the audience.  For those in the latter category, I left various percussion instruments laying around so that even they could join in if they so wished.  Sam chose an old  tambourine, which sadly fell apart in her hands as she was playing.  She felt so guilty that she brought along her older sister Elizabeth for support when breaking the news to me, thinking I might not react too well.  But I just smiled and told her that these things happen.  Over the subsequent years it became something of a running joke between us and was referenced every time we met at birthday celebrations.

Consequently, it was uppermost in my mind when I was writing the song and is even  referred to in the lyrics, so it struck me as a good idea to buy her, from the band, a wedding present of a lovely new tambourine as a way of keeping the memory of that lovely evening alive.  I can’t wait to see her playing it….  

I am most indebted to both Hans & Gary for their input into the song it has become.  Most importantly, though, we all hope that Sam and Tom enjoy hearing it.  Our distanced garage band wish them a lifetime of happiness, music and fun.  (Terry Reeves)

 This is a song that Chris wrote on the drums, bass, and guitar and shared with the collective. We all love working on Chris's songs, and got to work on it even more enthusiastically than usual. Josh was up first with his lap steel, which he weaves throughout. He also added the sitar at the beginning and the acoustic sitar at the end. Stephen stepped in and added the gnarly electric sitar at the end. JJ also made his presence heard by adding the thrilling organ and electric piano throughout. Ken then augmented Chris's original drums with his own in expert fashion. Last, but not least, Tez added his electric guitat magic to the stew, as well. 

  Since Chris brought this song to the group, and is a fine producer, he did the honors of the mix and production. 

  This is our latest with Chris, whose music we all adore. If you dig this, you should go check out his page, as it contains lots of wonders to hear. We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.
