In quell'accumulo invisibile che chiamiamo memoria, spesso andiamo in cerca delle nostre cose più care, nell'inane tentativo di non perderle per sempre. È questo il tema di un dialogo immaginario tra due amici che provano a trovare un senso allo scorrere inesorabile del tutto.

A few small changes to the words...
This was tough, I have such a rough time with vocals, i rerecorded some of them and remixed the track..

Getting up at 4a m before the birds are singing
Rise and shine to the smell of coffee percolating
Load up the truck put the gear in the boat we’ll spend the day out fishing 
What a way to spend a saturday, out on the river

A celebration of life-long friendship, with a cheeky nod to Saturday Night Fever, although musically, it's not even close to the music of that film! To my ear, it sounds, completely unintentionally, like Dire Straits, but others may disagree. 
In lo-fi mode, as it's unlikely time and financial issues will allow the proper recording of all the songs I've written to date, but I thought it would be nice to get it out there as a bonus track. 

Jeff, by the way, is the abundantly coiffured (lucky bastard!) and classically jaw-lined gentleman on the far left in the photo. Steve, the host of Pool Night, is on the far right. All friends from school back in the 60s and early 70s in the UK.

Some time not too long ago, dashboard panel aglow, 
lonely road, he’s thinking about life and the everyday,
hands on the wheel...

In a time a few centuries ago, 
she worked selling flowers to feed her children, 
and provide a warm home.
Those were good memories she's keepin'...  

She was walking across the street, 
an out-of-control horse carriage 
came around the bend.
They did meet;
didn’t have time to run out of the way.  

She said she’d be home in a little while, 
but she never arrived to kiss her child. 
Her crumpled body lying beside the road, 
people surrounded her but there was no hope. 

Her flowers spoiled in the dirt. 
The day went on without her.

The lady by the side of the road, 
never did she make it home.

Each mile turned into the next, 
until he couldn’t believe what he saw
at the edge of his headlights.
A lady in a flowing white dress off of the tarmac. 

Dandelions pushing up on the hem of her dress.
Why she was there was anyone’s guess.  
He stopped and got out of the car, 
and opened the back door, 
while asking her if she needed a lift. 

She didn’t say a word but got in.
He closed the door, 
and asked the obvious questions as they drove, 
and she never answered. 
The air became oddly cold. 

As they came into town he asked,
Where do you want to go?
She didn't reply, and pointed out her window.
So he started to pull to the side, but
in the rear view mirror, she was gone. 

He slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car. 
Seems she finally made it home.  
He felt a soft kiss on his cheek, 
and could see his exhale turn into cold breath.

This song began with Stephen and his friend and bandmate, Quanah Stewart who also sings this version, and who wrote the lyrics. They were in a band together for about 7 years in the early 2000s. When the band broke up, they went many years without playing together. Until, in 2018 Stephen started his TexMex shaman project and this was one of the first songs he wrote.  Quanah had moved to Austin in the meantime but on a visit back to Dallas, Stephen asked him to come over and add the vocal track you hear on the song.  
 
Fast toward to 2024 and Stephen wanted to remix this along with a few other older tunes. He asked his good friends and teammates Ken and Josh if they’d like to help, and of course, they were super enthusiastic.  This is what he had to say about the finished product. "Their parts blew me away.  Beyond what I expected and it made it a whole new song.  Very grateful to them both for their time and talent." As are Ken and Josh very grateful to Stephen for sharing his awesome rocker with us.  

The title comes from trying to think of the stupidest song title Stephen could come up with, on a bet. And it’s close. 
  Of course, Stephen did the honors of mixing and producing it. Ken and Josh had a lot of fun brining this song back to life with him, whose creativity and skill are unparalleled. We all hope you (and Quanah) enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating

This song began with Christian's friend Holger Engel coming up with a melodic bass line and sharing it with him to use as a seed stem for a project. Having collaborated successfully with him before, Christian thought of Josh and decided to pass it along to him to see what he could build with it. Josh was excited to work on another of Holger's creations. His bass line was in a high octave on the instrument, so Josh added a similar, complimentary bass line on the low octave to give it some heft. He invited Ken onto the project, and after doing their little rhythm section give and take, Ken laid down some powerful, yet tasteful drums. Mark was brought in next, and added some very fitting, wonderfully melodic electric piano, which he added in the choruses. Josh also asked JJ to add some electric piano to the verses and synth to the whole thing, which he did in a very mind-bending syncopated way. Josh then added some guitar to the high end to thicken things up a bit.
  We then sent the finished product back to Christian to add his thoughtful, inspired lyrics and signature vocals to his song. This is what Christian had to say about how the lyrics came about. 
  "[Being an avid reader], I came along the sentence, 'We write and make art to show our wounds to the world,' reading an interview with Paul Auster (1947-2024). He died earlier this year, yet his novels are legendary. There was talk about creativity, manifoldness and what the personality consists of. 
  "I can’t remember where that interview was and basically I wrote the lyrics around this sentence attributed to him. 
  "I quote another writer, Goethe (1749-1832), with a famous quotation from "Faust,“ 'Two souls, Alas, housed in my breast...' That points in the right thematic direction in my opinion.
For sure the lyrics also contain other layers of meanings, much more personal…
I am also happy about the title of the song 'We Are Many'. I think Tez came up with it. I was unsure for very long, what’s the name of that song… :)"
  After we had it in the bag, we asked mix-master Tez to produce and mix it, so what you hear is also his creative vision for the project. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
