When the witch rings the triangle in the night sky, the stars sparkle and shine even more beautifully.
...That's the kind of song it is.
This is the last song of 2023. Thank you everyone again this year!

Mike Benoit is a wonderful sound artist who reached out to me this year with the idea of taking some raw improv piano playing and reworking them to produce original tracks. This appealed to me because 1 - I ain't the greatest piano player so this was flattering and 2 - I spend so much of my time reworking other peoples sounds it would be awesome to be on the receiving end for a change : ) .The album features 4 tracks, each one originally recorded on a different piano then given the treatments by Mike.

This is a truly great song written by my good friend and Ardent Collaborator Finn Eces. I am delighted have made a small contribution to the song and i am enthusiastic to let everyone hear this great talent ( Finn :-) )

Back in the day when there were albums, this song would have been the last track on the B-side, that most of the band didn’t want on include at all. Poor structure, no obvious genre, not enough repetition, too long, etc, all fair points. Anyway, this is my B-side album filler that gets me kicked out of the band due to 'creative differences'.

Thinking back to a lifetime ago, living in the Bronx, driving on the Major Deegan, hot summer evenings, going nowhere in particular, sketchy air con, Indigo Girls CD on full volume, trying to sing those amazing harmonies.

Blink of an eye and all these years have past. Lots of water under the George Washington Bridge since then.

  This is a song that JJ created late one Saturday night on the piano, drums, bass, and guitar. You can hear his Grateful Dead influence if you're familiar with the band. He then presented it to the rest of the Eclectic Collective so we could do our thing with it. Josh replaced JJ's rough bass with his interpretation of the line as soon as Ken replaced the drums with his interpretation of the beat. Interestingly, Ravel's Bolero had a lot to do with the inspiration for the second part of the song. After the rhythm section was done, we turned it over to Stephen, who came up with some really subtle, yet very necessary guitar lines. 
  We then turned it over to our relatively new collaborator, Mark, who came up with the lyrics and vocals. He was also instrumental in getting the arrangement to fit right with the vocals. This is a lyrical and vocal songwriting debut for Mark, who was inspired by his very first listen to JJ's rough draft. Thus, this song is extra special for him.  
 We all hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we did creating it.
  Mark's lyrics are about our Earthly relatives in the far distant future. At that point life on earth would have just about reached its limits, and so mankind embarks on a journey through space to find another place to call home.

Effelsberg, is one of the most important radio telescopes in the world and one of the largest freely movable ones. Even today. Many years ago, I had the opportunity to join a group of students from the University of Bonn for an introduction to the working methods and global networking of radio astronomy at Effelsberg. It was an unforgettable experience. Beautifully situated in the Eifel, not far from Bonn and Cologne, it does its work in exploring the universe. With the video and the song I would like to take you on an imaginary journey into the depths of space. Enjoy the flavour

Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich Gelegenheit, mit einer Gruppe von Studenten der Universität Bonn, eine Einführung in die Arbeitsweise und die weltweite Vernetzung der Radioastronomie in Effelsberg mitmachen zu dürfen. There's a fantastic 70s leaning pop-rock album  Ticket to Shangri-La  released in 2023 (Young Gun Silver Fox) with a song called Starting Wars. I miss heard and mis-read the title as Starling Wars which seemed a great metaphor for something. It could have applied to a relationship - but the 2 wars going on became the theme
