A track I recorded with Toine Scholtz. I went over  to his home with some lyrics, a groove and some ideas ...I proceeded to lay it all down and leave it to him to interpret and convey what I had in mind.

These Little Things

My first experience of the Grahamstown National Arts Festival this year, was many facets of beyond magical and monumental.
But perhaps the most profound was the musical marriage between myself and Ben Badenhorst of Plettenberg Bay...we 'klapped' four songs in two hours...I'll post one a week or so. He created every element and aspect of the songs and then invited me to come up with lyrics and vocals.
What our music makes me feel is beyond describable. I could try, but I'll let the song sing it to you...

Kom Dans Met My

This, the opening track on my 2nd album Joyful Willow, was recorded and produced during my year @ Berklee College of Music. I had written and performed it back home in South Africa before heading over to Boston, but it was there that I met a quirky,petite, young, green-haired girl who played the harp...so I invited her to join me on Kiss 'n tell...we sat opposite one another in a Berklee practice room...me behind a baby grand piano and her, dwarfed by a magnificent golden harp...and off we went.... :-))
The song itself was inspired by 3 things I experienced ...kissing a dolphin in captivity @ uShaka Marine world in Durban, drumming for a sangoma and others during their 3-day of fasting&dancing healing ceremony (dance-for-the-one) @ Rustler's valley, and losing a childhood friend~ Lee Barnes ~ xxx

Kiss 'n Tell

"Feels So Right" has many versions, of which this is one ~ specially created for an incredible story that will be told on etv on 6th Jan 2013 @ 6pm ( Blue Fire Productions "Kushaya Igagasi Documentary").
I first wrote this song in 2009 shortly after returning home from abroad and being moved by the growth and unity that is blossoming amongst us South Africans...Leaving behind the pain of the past and recreating our own future reality and relationships with one another. Recognising ourselves in each other and affording everyone equal opportunities. I never knew my opening line would manifest in to marrying the story that is to be told...don't forget to tune in on 6th Jan...Endless thanks to the majestic recording& production skills of MONDLI Ngcobo whom guided my vocals and co~composed, recorded, produced and mastered this piece.

Feels So Right

I wrote this song in late 2008, while living in an incredible house with precious people in Kloof, KZN. Recorded & released on my latest album 'Space of Influence' last year, this piece is my way of pleading with Humanity to please break the cycle of being dictated to, placed-in-place, deceived and disconnected from themselves and the existence of which we are a part, be it a dream or not, this reality matters while we are here! I imagined our planet being exhausted and an emergency evacuation being carried out by our world's governments...the only condition being 'stay in place,be submissive, walk in line and follow us : All aboard! They ship us off to space with a promise of finding a 'new earth' where humanity can relocate to and continue. A few of us cannot bear the thought and so we 'walk the plank' so to speak, opting to stay behind on our barren planet and trying get it right here...Lo and behold but of course our course repeats its all too familiar cycle with some or other dictator evolving from our circle of free-souls...and history repeats itself....AWAKEN.I love you. xxx
