☺ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 ☺

A nomadic spirit tracing her ancestry in the frozen Arctic and mountains of Translyvlania,  Claire is one of the most globe-trotting artists Montreal's electronic scene has to offer. In fact, she just recently concluded a wide-ranging summer tour schedule that included musical jaunts in Switzerland, Germany, British Columbia, and the Honduran Bay Islands. From Piknic Electronik to the Techno Parade, and from MUTEK to Club Der Visionaere, Claire’s music is shaking up dancefloors all over the world. 

With several EPs on vinyl and has released on labels Conceptual, Monoclap, Archipel and more. A bit of a gear junkie, Claire has a small but mighty arsenal of synthesizers, samplers, sequencers, and drum machines. Something just flows when those machines come alive and for 2022, she is shifting her focus to live performance. She's also been hard at work preparing to launch her own label, Planète Secrète. CIRCLECAST 016 ≁ Claire

I needed to do something different: I've been through shorter mixes, the regular 25-30 tracks in an 80min session, lots of layering and precise arrangements... I thought I'd do the opposite for once. 16 tracks and a shade over 3 hours.

Each track is pushing past the 11/12min mark, I let them play out mostly, barely mixed, looking for those transitions that feel like shifting stages on Outrun.

I tried to the keep the tracks multifaceted, engrossing, no "sounds of Jupiter" wind trax here. Set aside some time or eat in a few sessions.

This Ambient House

XDB has a reputation for being a historian of electronic music. With his extensive catalog of vinyl he is able to express harmonized, almost pictorial themes in his mixes. Almost similar to an abstract painter who uses paint dabbles and brushstrokes to create rhythms and structures. The 24th FIBER podcast by XDB expresses his versatility as a storyteller of house and techno histories. “I just took a bunch of old and new records and tried to tell a story with tunes I never used for a podcast before.”

Kosta Athanassiadis, Germany's XDB who has been DJing since the early 90s, after years of working in a record shop he launched his own label Metrolux in 2006. His music heading in a direction that ranges from deep and soulful house to raw, analogue sounding dub techno remixing some Detroit heroes as Norm Talley and Aaron Carl. Kosta’s DJ sets draw upon his expansive record collection, playing right across the board of electronic music. He has no shortage of technical skill but it’s his selection that truly shines.

His DJing keeps him in the public eye, but one gets the sense that XDB prefers to operate in the shadows. There’s a refreshing lack of gimmickry to his approach – keeping it low-key allows him to be judged solely on the basis of talent. Arguably, it’s an innate quality – the way he wants to play it; the way that brings him most satisfaction, but it’s helped establish his reputation as an artist of considerable merit, winning the approval his audience and peers, alike.
