There aren't too many names who balance the Detroit and Chicago sounds with as many quality releases as Steven Tang has. Over the past 25 years, it seems that every EP he has put his name on earns hardcore devoted fans. Its a wonder why he isn't more well known then he should be. Bridging the 2nd generation Detroit producers to the new millennium, you wont find a much more beloved producer of the futuristic Detroit sound.  Steven started up Emphasis Recordings in 1998. With just under 20 releases in 24 years, one may think the label isnt that productive but that is also the speed in which Steven puts out his own music as well. Quality being most important to Steven. In 2013 Steven landed on the Smallville label with his first full length album called "Disconnect To Connect" to rave reviews. A little more polished and acid sounding then his own labels' music but still representing a great house and techno balance. Steven is pretty low key these days. As Covid hopefully lets up we hope to see more dj gig's in the near future with him. A blind purchase each time you see his name, we hope to see some new music from Steven in 2022 and 2023

Chez Damier has devoted his life to electronic music as a vocalist, DJ, producer, label manager and graphic artist. Splitting his time between Detroit, Chicago and occasionally New York, Chez set up the Music Institute with Derrick May and Alton Miller looked after the business affairs and studio output of Kevin Saunderson's KMS label, and helped countless producers get a start in production. On top of that, he has a kick ass discography of his own, his work with Ron Trent on Prescription coming to near define an era in club music - Chez' is truly one of the greatest story never told in house music.

Short Attention Mix 038 by Jon Dixon

There are a bunch of things to say about Jon Dixon’s career, a very talented artist who has found his musical love between two different genres and the beauty connection that exists between them, Jazz and Techno.

	As a Jazz artist, Jon has played with The Detroit Symphony Civic Jazz Orchestra and has had the opportunity to play for/with legendary musicians such as Chick Corea (†), Jeff Hamilton and Robert Hurst, to mention a few. In addition, he teaches multiple group piano classes at the Michigan State University Community Music School.

	In the electronic music field, Dixon has had the chance to perform/record with Artists/Bands such as Galaxy 2 Galaxy, Interstellar Fugitives, Amp Fiddler, Jeff Mills, Mike Banks, Derrick May, Kenny Dixon Jr., Carl Craig, and more in the U.S. and abroad.

	Jon started his own label 4EVR 4WRD (Forever Forward) to focus on making electronic music fused with elements of Jazz. In Jon Dixon’s words: "I feel that it is important for me as a musician to not only continue the rich culture and history of both jazz and electronic music but to also use my knowledge, theory, and experience to combine the two and take both genres to the next level!".

It may not be for everybody but Dub Techno when it's done well, is up there, in the higher echelons of electronic music. You wont really get it until you hear it on a proper sound system,  it just doesn't work on a phone or laptop. You cant flick through it either.  You have to let the tracks breathe and do their thing.  Put it on loud and let it do its thing

Awesome mix I acquired at uni, just identified with help from Chris Weir (big up): 'At the last ever Sabresonic in Dec 95, Andrew gave out tapes (hence the caption on the tape “game over”) that were recorded on previous Sabresonic nights'. Game Over Tape 1 is a downtempo selection from Andrew - classic US hip-hop instrumentals, obscure bugged-out beats, crazy samples and general weirdness. I've had a go at a tracklisting below, please leave a comment if you can fill a blank.

On Friday, April 24th, 2020 our Detroit and world music community lost a legend in Mike Huckaby.  He was someone that I personally looked up to in a lot of ways and someone I absolutely respected as an artist and a person.  

He influenced so many artists and DJs, not just in Detroit, but around the world.  So much so that I simply cannot put not into words how much of an influence he was to me and many others I personally know. 

On Sunday, April 26th, 2020 I decided to stream a 2-hour set on Twitch of nothing but Mike Huckaby tracks, plus other tracks that were inspired by him and those that I might have had personal stories about.  It was a way of personal healing and remembrance.  Two hours just wasn't enough, however, and I ended up playing for almost five.  

There were quite a few friends that mean the world to me that were logged in and chatting during the entire stream and I can't thank them enough.  We were all able to help each other in the healing process as a group, which is exactly what the stream was bout.  

There have been many tributes for Huck and there will be many more. This is merely my perspective on what he meant to me and the great thing about Huck is there are still many hours of other tributes that will differ greatly than mine. It just goes to show you how large of a reach he had.  

The world will never be the same now that Huck is gone but he will live on through the army of Deep House (and techno) Soldiers he had continued to build throughout his lifetime.  

I also wanted to point out that I had @andytoth master the audio the recording. This is significant because many people might not know that Huck would send his tracks to Andy for the mix downs and mastering.   I couldn't think of a better audio engineer to touch this mix.
