Ready....Fight! That's right good humans, this winter has been brutal! Causing people to slide into snow banks all across America! "Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth", smartest thing Mike Tyson ever said. So when plans go astray and things freeze, we bring out the Skinny, and then Skinny brings out the chainsaw!

Pauline Knighton sits down with Joe Short to talk about the first few winters that Short's Brewing Company faced, and Joe tells some very candid stories of how they survived those winters. Then Pauline brings in "Skinny" Nicolas Fairbanks to talk about how the crew at the production facility in Elk Rapids attacks the problems winter puts in their way.

Music is provided by Blake Elliot and the Robinson Affair. The tracks are "You Don't Feel The Same About Me" and "Thinkin" off of the album "Feeling Right Now".

Seth Bernard is now hosting an open jam session at the brew pub in Bellaire starting tonight (Tuesday Feb 18th) at 7pm.

Shorts Versus Polar Vortex

Welcome planet earth beer lovers to the eighth episode of Short's Cast! Today's episode is all about the brewing community showing each other love by coming together and creating delicious beer recipes.

We are extremly happy to be joined by Matt Gallagher, Head Brewer of Half Acre Brewery in Chicago, Illinois and Sam Calagione CEO and Founder of Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, Deleware. Short's has collaborated on three beers between these two breweries. Freedom of '78 and Captain Fantasy were both collaborations between Short's and Half Acre, and Cornholio was a collaboration between Short's, Dogfish Head, and Three Floyds.

Music from this episode is performed by Don Julin and Billy Strings out of Traverse City.

We also get to meet the "Best Beard on Short's Staff" brewer, Al Russell, for the first time. Al tells us his story about his trip out to Delaware and the tour of Dogfish Head Brewery guided by none other than Sam Calagione himself.

Woj sums up the episode by giving us the specs on Freedom of 78, a guava IPA. This brew was inspired by Half Acre Brewery's and Joe Short's favorite band, Ween.

A Collaboration Across The Nation

We are excited to have the Short's cellarmen on the show today. Pauline and Matt sit down and chat with the three show newbies: Forrest Moline, Eric Anderson and Sean Niemisto. These three cellarman talk about their responsibilities at the production facility in Elk Rapids.

Amber Williamson reads our beer events roll this week and reminds everyone about the Short's St. Patrick's Day weekend celebration on March 14th and 15th at the brewpub.
