Disc 1: Let it Rain

Pain Management welcomes London cult favourite DJ ojo, who arrives on the label with a hazy three tracker of trademark nether zone system music. On his most dubbed out full length to date, ojo span’s the full emotive spectrum of dub sonics with a range of both the eerie and more tender expansions of low end atmospherics, the resulting 12” equally suited for the club and the journey home alike.

‘Tongue Tied’ opens the record, a lysergic offering from the darker edges of dub music. A slippery fugue-state hit of narco-ambience built around a crooning, intelligible vocal refrain and chest shot sub weight. A real nightfall system pusher built to simmer in the early hours. It kicks off the EP on an amorphous, hypnotic note that sustains throughout.‘Oil Dub’ sinks deeper into the fog, melodic kinesis and expansive delays upholding an underworld of feedbacked percussion and tongue in cheek sub motion; a seven minute sound bath of ambiguous dub ASMR.

The B-side balances out the darker strains found on its counterpart with an overtly tender digidub closer. Clocking in at almost ten minutes long ‘Cloud Suck’ is a nebulous bliss of perpetually ascending late-summer warmth. The kind of liminal dream-state embrace that you wish would never end. True to the name, it evokes tender, dusk and dawn hued moments, a quiet ride-home flash of introspection on the way to or from some pursuit of meaning. Pain Management essential right here.

Limited run of 200 hand-stamped 12” records available now.

Echospace Detroit’s cv313 aka Stephen Hitchell joins forces with Federsen for the second instalment on the latter’s newly minted Alt Dub label with the ‘Skyspace’ EP.Over the past decade and a half San Francisco based artist Federsen has been making his mark on the dub infused techno and house sound, delivering his vintage tape delay and analogue gear driven sound via the likes of Mixcult, Greyscale, Lempuyang and Ohm Series among others. In May this year Federsen inaugurated his own Alt Dub label with a split EP from himself and Hidden Sequence, and here the story continues following the split format with more original material from himself and cv313, accompanied by both artists remixing each other to run alongside their originals across the 12’’.
cv313’s original mix of ‘Skycrossing’ opens the release and in typical Hitchell fashion treats us to eight and a half minutes of deep soundscapes, spiralling dub echoes, muted drums and a subtly unfurling feel throughout. Federsen’s ‘Dub’ remix of ‘Skycrossing’ then follows, offering a more refined and reduced feel with subby pulsations and crisp drums intertwined with dubby fragments of the original tracks.
On the flip-side Federsen’s original ‘Skyway’ leads, employing a sturdy rhythm section with nuanced dub echoes and rumbling low-end swells. To conclude the release cv313 offers up his ‘Dub’ interpretation of ‘Skyway’, stamping his mark on things with phasing atmospherics, intricate oscillations and fluttering percussion.

The Fool

Sa Pa - Captigon (Short 1)

Legendary dub techno artist Paul St. Hilaire (AKA Tikiman) announces new collaborative album, marking 10 years of Kynant Records.

Building on the success of Paul St. Hilaire’s landmark solo album for Kynant in 2023, w/ The Producers switches up the formula to pair St. Hilaire with a different producer on each track. Referencing fellow dub techno pioneers Mark Ernestus & Moritz von Oswald’s acclaimed album w/ The Artists as Rhythm & Sound, St. Hilaire flips the concept to feature as the lone vocalist.

Over the album’s nine tracks, St. Hilaire offers a range of conscious song-writing and headtop musings, such as the spoken-word dread of “What’s This” or the sparse call-to-action of “Send Them On”. w/ The Producers is yet another essential record in St. Hilaire’s unmatched discography.

The album marks 10 years of Kynant Records, with label owner Richard Akingbehin curating an eclectic but sonically connected group of producers. These include luminaries such as Digital Mystikz boss and dubstep trailblazer Mala, or the elusive Chain Reaction artist Shinichi Atobe. They sit alongside some of the most exciting names in recent electronic music - Batu, Gavsborg, Azu Tiwaline, Priori, Cousin, Russell E.L. Butler, Aurora Halal and DJ G - all of whom bring different elements of dub techno into their productions.

w/ The Producers finds Kynant Records bridging the original voice of dub techno with the genre’s new wave. It’s a statement of intent from the label, which began 10 years ago with deep, hypnotic techno and has veered gradually towards more dubwise sounds.

XM014 Rodja - Third Force

1. Dub from Ekbatown
2. Bhangstep
3. Third Force Dub
4.Seminar
5. Seminar Dub
6. Seminar (Version)
7. Sleepin Wiraz
8. Ajam (Version)
9. Harmaline (Version)

Spanning a decade of recordings between Tehran and Matera, Rodja’s debut album is an immersion into dubbed-out sonics shaped by memory and experimentation. The nine tracks collected here trace a personal geography—moving between Ekbatan’s concrete echoes and the ancient stone reverberations of southern Italy.
Rooted in dub science, the album unfolds as a series of versions, mutations, and reassemblies. Rhythms dissolve and re-emerge, fragments of sound are treated, re-treated, and sent back through the echo chamber—a study in transformation, where each piece feels like a parallel state of another. Working from tapes and DAT recordings, Nothus re-arranged the material in post-production, producing three further versions extending the album’s internal logic of drift, erosion, and return. Nothing resolves but everything circulates.

"This music was mostly composed at home or at Harmonium Books in Rikota Studios, Marrickvile. Thankyou to everyone who supported the process, who gave space and inspiration for these tracks to emerge over the past several years.

They are a reflection of the light that surrounds."

After over 11 years of collaboration with Freda on Moonshoe ~ we are deeply honoured to present his debut full-length album: “Weltsinn”. The 15 part release was gradually realised across time and various pockets of localised space; with distant echoes of the club and Sydney’s industrial zones, and explicit nods to electronic music’s canon -aptly delivered in the CD format 💿 We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do

pi premiere: Freda - Subterra [MOONSHOE]

Following traverse's fourth traversée compilation, which focused on music for listening, this fifth volume explores just the opposite - finding inspiration in sounds and rhythms that make us dance.

Although dance music is often defined by what is supposed to make us move, our interpretations and physical responses vary depending on the context, the environment, and our own sensibilities. Maybe it’s that subtle sound in the background that draws you in. Maybe it’s the bassline. Maybe it’s all of it together, as a whole.

This is a compilation of deeply personal interpretations of dance music. Each track is a unique invitation to move. Not always the way you’d expect, but after all isn’t it what we’re looking for?

Happy to welcome back some of our favorite artists on this compilation such as Prieste5s, Soreab, Gillielove and Beatrice M. And overly excited to be joined by Fetus, Rroxymore, Dyslecta, Maelita, Autogenesis and Theorist.
