Not a preacher of the lord, but I found my faith
in the thrift store
got everything I need and magic pieces on the rack there
just for me
when my soles are wearing through
I know just what to do
walk right down the block
and find the local thrift shop
and I go all the way to the back
where I find them sitting on the rack
brown heel with the pointed toe
just my size, ankle high

they're one of a kind make my soles come alive x2

summer to the fall and some warm days in winter
they've been with me through it all
kept me on my feet, Chicago to the east coast
from the stage to the street 
when my soul was wearing through
and I didn't know what to do
I laced up my leather shoes
and took one step forward then two
pretty soon I was walking down the block
and the man that I loved I forgot
found a home next to the beach
I did sign, made it mine
