Kosta G Kapellas Jazz Trio from Central Michigan University. This recording was an experiment in minimalism using only 2 Royer 121 microphones in Blumlein array into a Great River MP-2 and Mytek ADC96. The musicians were  situated on both sides of the microphones in a nice concert hall. The balance was achieved by moving the musicians further from or closer to the microphones; there were no spot mics or mixing of any kind.  Gobos were placed around the jazz combo to control some of the reverb as needed.  The only processing was a little EQ to bring up the bass and a touch of air for the high register.  Instead of running the recording through a compressor, I manually brought down some of the level spikes in the drums and brought up the overall levels.
