Flounder Showcase Session #002

OPTYK is the project of Eoin Simpson, a DJ and producer from Derry, Northern Ireland. Starting out at 17, he’s spent the last few years shaping his sound through DJ sets, live performances, and long hours in the studio.

He first came up as part of SETS, playing live at Celtronic Festival and running parties across the county. Now focused on solo work, his music pulls from labels like Ilian Tape and Hessle Audio, blending broken rhythms, deep atmospheres, and detailed percussion.

Rooted in the Irish underground, OPTYK’s approach is low-key and self-driven—more about process and progression than quick exposure. His sound continues to evolve behind the scenes, with a steady flow of new material taking shape.

Niall Gray is a DJ from Derry who has been active on the scene for over five years. He played his first set at AVA Festival’s Emerging DJ competition, quickly following it up with his first club gig alongside Twitch Belfast. Since then, he has become a regular at Sandinos in Derry and has supported acts such as Theo Kottis, Giant Swan, and Move D, performing in cities including Belfast, Liverpool, and his hometown.

Niall draws inspiration from the late Andrew Weatherall, Motor City Drum Ensemble, and the rich variety of talent he encountered over the years at Celtronic Festival. Known for his musically diverse sets, he focuses on blending tracks by mood rather than sticking strictly to genre or BPM, creating a fluid and engaging listening experience. This mix offers a strong example of that approach—connecting the dots between some of his favourite new music.

Scoobz is an Irish DJ and producer who first made waves in the national electronic music scene after winning the prestigious AVA Festival Emerging DJ Competition. His momentum continued with the release of his track “Goth Culchies,” which caught the ear of Avalon Emerson and was featured on her BBC Radio 1 Residency—earning Scoobz recognition from a wider audience.
Hailing from rural County Donegal, a place far removed from the traditional epicenters of club culture, Scoobz developed his love for electronic music through the eclectic sounds and boundary-pushing sets of artists like 2manydjs, Erol Alkan, Midland, and Avalon Emerson. Regular pilgrimages to influential Irish club nights such as Twitch, Celtronic, and Shine helped shape his diverse musical palette.
Scoobz is a resident at Dublin Digital Radio, where he hosts Sluggish Selections—a show dedicated to slower, groove-heavy strains of electronic music, with a self-imposed limit of 125 BPM. This deliberate pacing positions him as something of an outlier in a high-tempo world, drawing on the rich legacies of House, Disco, and Electro to create thoughtful, heady club experiences.

Matcha Showcase Session #015

From bedroom sessions in Leeds to packed-out dancefloors back home, Princess Glitoris is a DJ whose journey grew from obsession, curiosity, and a lifelong love of raving. She started DJing in late 2022 after years of sharing tunes with friends and wondering why she hadn’t taken the plunge sooner.

By early 2023 she’d upgraded her gear and everything escalated. She was coming home from work and mixing for five or six hours straight, completely hooked. When she moved back home that summer, the universe aligned: DJ Time Of The Month booked her for her first ever gig at Laverys in November. That night lit the fuse—and things have been rising ever since.

Princess Glitoris’ sound is gloriously unruly. She refuses to be confined to a single lane, weaving together techno, tribal, hardgroove, bounce, dembow, speedy electro, and heavier bass-driven slammers. The one constant? A hypnotic, drum-forward tribal energy—textures that feel like they’ve erupted straight from the Amazon—running through every set.

Her biggest inspirations include Marco Bailey, KiNK, Hertz, and the relentless pace of Ben Sims. Their high-energy, no-breaks approach fuels her own style: fast, charged, and impossible to stand still to. At least one of their tracks usually finds its way into her sets.

Above all, Princess Glitoris wants one thing—for people to lose themselves completely. To dance without overthinking it. To let loose. To go all in. Because there’s no feeling she loves more than being swallowed by a set so intoxicating you can’t stop moving.
