Moulding the laid back sounds I started listening to by mixing laid back house, downtempo, hip hop, soul and plain and simple incredible music into one cd. 015 - Back To Mine - Everything But The Girl (2001)

10 years in the making, the infamous Station Road Mix returns with a mostly new set of artists and tracks but still keeps that slamming house and garage flavour from the mid 90's. Inspired by labels like Strictly Rhythm and Henry Street Music (of which the original mix was heavy based upon) this muscular mix holds no punches in it's transitions. With bass and hi-hats jumping in like a fat kid in a swimming pool and steams along at what feels like much more than it's 122bpm. But it's not all heavyweight, it starts with one of the sweetest house and piano tracks ever made, Tenaglia's 'Loft In Paradase', features the soulful classic MK's 'Love Changes feat. Alana'. Then closes with a Blaze remix of '4 The Love of You' by Alex & Rai followed with a stunning remix of Mr.Finger's 'Can You Feel It'. And there isn't many better tracks than that. About the CD:
005 of the 'Classic Mix CD' collection brings a much slower affair. From the superb 'Back To Mine' CD series. The first I purchased was actually Danny Tenaglia's disc, which I bought out of curiosity being a fan of his house DJ sets. That disc almost made it here, but it was the Groove Armada release which really got hammered on my old Sony stereo. No other disc reminds me of lazy summer sundays more than this. And it was really the first musical selection that steered me towards collecting and playing a mix of music all together. Going from A Tribe Called Quest, into Barry White's incredible "Playing Your Game Baby" then house and other genre's coming in.... really resonated with me and elevated the way I put music together. Both listening to and playing out. A truly seminal release.
