Over the past three years we've been closely watching the development of East London man James Morreale, also known to the UK scene as, SHOX. After joining the legendary Rinse FM with a weekly slot, he then cut his teeth in the studio, releasing a series of three EPs throughout 2011 via his own label, Hundred2ONE Recordings. The second of which, 'Tombstone', caught the ear of Rinse cohort Roska who put out the wicked 'Battlestar EP' in 2012 on his lauded imprint, Kicks & Snares.

James then went on to earn serious fans across the Atlantic in New York, putting out the Grime influenced cannon of a drum track, 'Artillery' via Trouble & Bass’ popular club-tool series 'Heavy Bass Champions of the World'.
Fast forward two years and Shox is gearing up for a re-invention of his bass fuelled sound, with a first EP for Fat! Records, titled 'I Know'.

Finding your way into the perfectionist record box of tastemaker Redlight is no easy feat these days, but that’s exactly where we find lead track 'I Know' at the moment. A pulsating, no nonsense stomper, that’s ripe for the dancefloor.
'Want Back' is perhaps the most striking track of the bunch with its crescendoing leads, soulful vocal stabs and hypnotic, uplifting bassline.

Now, reinvented and reinvigorated Shox might be, but he definitely couldn’t leave you hanging without one of his trademark drum tracks. We find him on a slightly more house’y tip with closing track 'Straight In'; yet it still manages to hark back to the eclectic aesthetic of his earliest work. A sound and creative direction which was the prime reason his productions shone so brightly, amongst the plethora of releases in post-dubstep London.
