Me personally I have a strong love for everything connected to history of UK rave culture so music, lifestyle, artwork, fashion so everything between 89-96. Thats why I made contact with original artists from back then and also that has shaped my musical style listening and production wise.

“I was asked to do a mix for Shuffle and Swing so, so long ago and for whatever reason I took my sweet little time in pissing about. Nothing I recorded was Shuffle-y enough and when it was - then it just didn’t swing. I wouldn’t know how to describe the end product, but it’s an ode to picking out silly and obscure bits - big grins in record shops, weary eyes on the cogs. 

I’d like to dedicate the mix to friends old and new - Seb, BP, Mallory and as ever the silliest of silly crews.”

Representing the Leeds based institution Spin City, we are delighted to have ‘R-O-V’ stepping up to our Member’s Mix series.

The Spin City crew have gone from strength-to-strength and are considered a major force in solidifying Leeds as one of the UKs capitals for Garage. Their first label release titled ‘24 HOUR DUB’ from producer Skins has gained recent support from top selectors such as Sugar free, Quest and Andrew James Gustav to name a few. A ubiquitous figure in the scene who’s influence can be felt across the breadth of UKG through his productions under Striktly Dubz, G.O.D, Club Asylum and countless other alias’s and groups.

Good friend of the label and active London DJ, the one and only Fae provides us with an hour of heaters. Having cut her teeth up in Leeds, Fae has spent the past few years becoming a fixture in Londons club scene with her solo sets and group project, ‘Team Woibey’, alongside Ohmydais, Ell Murphy and Mixtress. You can find her regularly once a month on Netil Radio - she’ll also be joining us next Friday at XOYO for DJ Zinc’s residency.

Hailing from Middlesbrough & currently residing in Chapeltown (Leeds), Reeshy has repeatedly proven herself as a serious DJ in the truest form. A resident for The Cause and a crate digger through and through , Reeshy has also produced music with her partner in crime Bobby O'Donnell on Pilot - a sub label of Constant Sound - with plenty more music on the way.

For the 33rd edition of our Member's Mix series, we're delighted to have the OG group member and all round lemon squeezer, DJ Cosworth.

One of the true behind the scenes dons in recent years, his work spearheading the essential Hardline Sounds imprint has helped to carry the torch for darker bass led sounds. Alongside this, he has proved himself as an accomplished producer having recently released a collection of tunes alongside Interplanetary Criminal, with some serious forthcoming solo material in the pipeline.

Stepping up to decks we have U.K.Hun bossman Nicky Sahota providing us with an hour of fresh UKG and Minimal crossovers. 

His work with U.K. Hun has helped to give a home for the exciting crossover sounds that have been emerging over the last few years. Either through their mix series or East London parties, they have become one of the distinct voices helping to bridge the gaps between old school legends like Mike Millrain and new school heroes such as Alec Falconer. Stepping up for a special entry in the Members Mix series we have Balamii and Day Timers affiliate Yung Singh providing us with the Sounds of Punjabi Garage. Peep what he has to say about the mix and the importance of the underground Punjabi scene of the late 90s/early 00s:

“I really wanted to put together a mix that showcased the full range of Punjabi garage, from proper speedy garage to 4x4 with loads of swing, proper shuffly 2-step ,and more contemporary releases. There are tunes in here from the 90s, early 00s all the way to brand new and unreleased bits. One hour of 100% garage from 100% Punjabi producers/vocalists. 

This mix is really an ode to the late 90s/early 00s Asian Underground movement that was so important for mine and my older sibling's generation - one of the main reasons I got into music and DJing was mostly because of listening to my older siblings playing garage/jungle/house when I was growing up, with Punjabi garage my first love! “

For our first mix of 2021 we are joined by the Swedish badman Toof. We were lucky to meet Toof back in Berlin a couple of years ago for Operates party at Griessmühle. Toof has been flying the international flag for Garage out in his home of Stockholm with a string of events for Garage Sessions and his new Project The Bloc. Over the past couple of years he's been working away in the studio with a number of quality releases on Dimsum Records, Ec2a, and his own project The Bloc.

A true hero of UK underground music we are thrilled to have the one and only Warlock stepping up to the plate providing a special 2 hour session of all things dark in garage. A seminal figure in uk rave scene since the early 90s Warlock has carved unique path whether being involved in the early free party scene playing warehouse techno, playing forward thinking electro at vital parties such as haywire or even nowadays where his productions can be found on labels such as Sneaker Social Club; all of this only scratching the surface.

“This mix captures the really exciting times that were the early 2000s. That 2-Step sound was a perfect melting pot for all the garage, breaks and drum & bass that had come before it. A cross section of producers taking influences from left right and centre. I’ve got fond memories of traipsing around Soho record shops like Black Market and heading down to Croydon to Big Apple, picking up these tunes, blagging promos, and then times spent at FWD particularly the early days at Velvet Rooms next to the old Astoria (all now sadly demolished).  It was a big influence on me at the time - just as I was setting up my label Rag & Bone Records which it was also a big influence on. Great days, overlooked for years but finally coming of age.”
