Umwelt Drift translates non-human perception into layered audiovisual data, 
rendering organisms’ sensed worlds — the information they actually receive — 
through glitch-metal textures and liquid drum-and-bass shaped by a post-real 
realism aesthetic. Instead of depicting scenes directly, the piece maps pressure, 
scent, motion, and electrical signaling into sound and image, inviting viewers to 
experience events as shifting strata of sensation rather than literal representation.

The latter half turns to a moment in Japanese history: the 1441 Kakitsu Incident. 
Ashikaga Yoshinori’s authoritarian rule culminated in his assassination by 
Akamatsu Mitsusuke. In Umwelt Drift, this confrontation remains historically 
accurate but is reframed through post-real realism: a choreographed, non-gory 
ritual where violence dissolves into signal and pattern. Instead of portraying 
bloodshed, the sequence treats the clash as neural and environmental cascades — 
data-flows that show how perception, not force, shapes meaning.

Visually, the film layers metallic bodies, pixel-glitch ruptures, and false-color 
sensory overlays. Sonically, it drives forward with granular vocal textures and 
tight liquid DnB at 174 BPM. Together, these elements form shifting POV-fields in 
which history reads as sensation — a world understood not by how it looks, but by 
how it is received.
