Ten Toes Down is the name for the exploratory Trio of Drew Kid on Keys, Sweet Corey-Bey on Bass and DeZ McNeil on Drums. This group formed in early 2020 after finding synergy in the jam session at the legendary House of Secrets in LeDroit Park. 

This recording features the band in the fall of 2020 exploring variations in rehearsal of a Raga performed by Esperanza Spalding on an Instagram live that Drew and Sweet attended virtually.

The result was an immersive and cascading sound direction with drive from the drums, a foundation of accented and shifting repetitions in the bass  leaving Drew open to ascend and test the width of the harmonic dimensions.

Shugsline -  Is it a Crime Flip

Shugsline is a moniker of Black brilliant, Gender-Variant, Bassist, Band Leader, Composer, Producer, Poet-Extraordinaire Sweet Corey-Bey.  

A Native of Gorgeous Prince George’s County, their music is a soulful blend of jazz, R&B and funk. Perhaps best known for their work with funk-soul outfit Black Folks Don’t Swim? their works have been featured in the Hirshorn Museum, Makers Lab Blk in Space, Slut Island Festival 2020 and more.  Across disciplines, their work explores art as a tool for liberation at the site of the Black Queer body.
