TRAPPIN OUT THE CIVIC

DAY 15 - Some of my peers have been afflicted with vivid hallucinations. In their delirium they speak of
fleeing from monstrous beings;their minds seem to be fractured into a haze of disassociation. They lay in 
a fevered state inside the mess hall; The sickbay doors have been manually locked by [REDACTED].
 I fear that there is something that our directors did not inform us about. A massive storm has been raging against our compound for the past few days. Liquid methane pounds relentless against the bulletproof windows of the research facility. It mixes with the thick layer of ash on the ground to make a dark grey mud.

The Long Rain

We encountered that grey planet three weeks into our foray into the Andromeda galaxy.
It was a cold and barren place. Our research team was stationed there for six days
while our ship underwent general maintenance before setting course back to our home planet.
The planet was a pallid, unhealthy shade of slate grey. The polar winds shifted the loose
layer of ash that covered everything like a sickness. The traces of civilization were slowly
being reclaimed by time. Gone were the fires of industry, all the dreams and inspirations
of an entire race were smothered by some mysterious, gargantuan force. I have no fond
memories of that place; for it was a place of death and decay. When we left, I was glad
to be rid of the malevolent overcast skies and oppressive weight of silence broken only
by keening dust storms and powerful methane storms.
