Shumba is a pseudonym of Eric August, the multi-aliased music producer originally from the Chicago area and now residing in Portland, OR. Often bass-heavy, always densely textured and atmospheric, Shumba is music for the adventurous and open-minded. Drifting somewhere between the hazy 'IDM' of Boards of Canada, the techno-bombast of 90's big beat groups like Fatboy Slim, and the explorative progressions of synthy oddities such as Dan Deacon, plus the occasional flirtation with modern "EDM" and whatever bass-heavy sub-genre you wanna call it. :)

Eric has been releasing music quietly onto the internet for years now, dating back to his debut as Psychic Attack of the Psyduck in 2006 at 17 years old. Several name changes later 2013 saw the debut of Shumba, with "Shumba EP" released via Indelible Niche Collective.  

Currently available for a short time on soundcloud only is "Drake EP" concept remix album containing 5 takes on "started from the bottom". 

Right now im working on 3 or 4 EP's leading up to the eventual debut LP "Endless Spectrum" and a bonus EP in there at some point of 'microbeats' - 60 or so tracks at 90 seconds or less.
