The name "shut up and listen to the music", or "shut up" in short, has a story behind it. The small group of friends that founded shut up, had grown tired of the general ambiance at parties in their native Lahore. People would come and chit chat and mingle...the music had long since fallen in the background. They envisioned an event which would be more about the music than anything else. 
Where music would be at the forefront and no one would be more important than it. That's how...."Shut up...and listen to the music" was born.
