Chilean artist Magda Rot makes a head-turning debut here with some ice-cold electro rhythms on the Return To Disorder label which is now fast approaching a quarter century of releases. There is no messing with these sounds - they're built on tight, kinetic rhythms with fierce sound designs and stark futurism. 'Triads' is a mix of crisp hits and gurgling synths with dramatic background chords. 'Black Sense' is a slamming cut with a twisted bassline and hammering drum funk and 'Coincidences' brings the chilliness with its frosted lines and cold waves of synth. 'Unusual Theory' shuts down with a far sighted sense of electro-techno doom.

Shutters Studio Residency: Love & Tears at the Bunker in Hamburg 

For the third installment of the Shutters Studio Residency, we invited Hamburg's own DJ and producer extraordinaire, L.F.T., to explore the innovative artistry defining his unique sound.

L.F.T., Love Fist Tears, is a musical dynamo surging through electronic music's frontlines. A master of merging new wave and breakbeat-inspired electro, his tracks are a symphony of The Hague's raw beats and 80s San Francisco synth nostalgia. Labels like Return To Disorder, Mechatronica, and Eye for An Eye Recordings have echoed with L.F.T.'s creations. His debut album on Osaré Editions and the enigmatic "Salz" on Mannequin Records solidify his sonic journey. L.F.T. fluidly blends electro and techno, crafting soundscapes that mirror our fears and dreams. Based in Hamburg, L.F.T. aka. Johannes Haas co-curates events at the Golden Pudel Club and co-runs the experimental-focused "Neoprimitive" label with Lukas Fischer. 

In his Shutters Studio residency, L.F.T. presents the track "Leaves Casting Shadows" created in the "Synthesizer Dreamland" at synthesizer studio hamburg. It’s a gloomy electro backbeat with distorted spoken vocals and deep sub basses. Catchy whirring synthesizers complete the song in their subtle appearances. A dark and yet incomprehensibly beautiful sonic landscape that is held before our eyes.

Shutters Studio Residency presents a rare opportunity for talented artists to immerse themselves in the creative atmosphere of Synthesizer Studio Hamburg. Founded by renowned German engineer legends Sunny Vollherbst and Frank Husemann (known for their work with Tocotronic, Tomte, Blumfeld), this iconic studio resides within the captivating Feldstraßen bunker and offers a unique collection of around 30 vintage synthesizers, organs and pianos, as well as 16 drum machines and beat boxes.

Shutters Studio Residency and partnering label Kommerz Records are providing this platform for artists to push the boundaries of their sound, explore the possibilities of vintage analog synthesizers and present their creative creations.

Dance Mécanique EP: Unleashing the Pulse of the Mechanized Symphony

Embark on a sonic journey through the labyrinthine landscapes of machinery with Alpha Sect's upcoming EP, "Dance Mécanique." This vinyl release, destined to echo through the underground, serves as a pulsating manifesto against the encroaching takeover of our world by cold, relentless machines.
In Meredith, Alpha Sect crafts a sonic portrait of a world on the verge of mechanization. His haunting voice, draped in delay and reverb effects, weaves seamlessly with the beats of EBM and the cold melodies of Post-Punk. This sonic tapestry creates a hypnotic soundscape that mirrors the evolving relationship between man and machine.
Dance Mécanique, the titular track, unravels the dance of humanity entrapped in the mechanized rhythm of everyday life. Here, the gritty beats of EBM and ethereal echoes of Coldwave serve as a mirror reflecting how, at times, we move mechanically, lost in the repetitive motions of a world dominated by cold efficiency.
Liberty serves as the closing act, a sonic plea for emancipation from the cold embrace of industrial gears. The track's pulsating energy builds to a crescendo, echoing the urgency of breaking free from the constraints of the mechanized world.
The EP also features remixes from two legendary figures in the electronic music realm—The Hacker and the dynamic duo of Mick Willis & Blackmoon77. Brace yourself as they deconstruct and reconstruct the mechanized symphony, adding their unique signatures to this sonic manifesto.
The vinyl's artwork, a depiction of marionettes suspended in the cold embrace of industrial gears, encapsulates the EP's thematic core. It's a visual metaphor for the dance between man and machine, a tango on the edge of automation.

Dalmata Daniel is excited to introduce the eighth installment of their split series, featuring Filmmaker and Petros Spatharos. In this edition, they present a unique 3-3 track vinyl, marking the debut of the talented Colombian music maker on the label. For Athens-based producer Petros Spatharos, it's a welcome return after his previous contribution to the "Dalmata Daniel eats Lahmacun" compilation. Notably, this collaboration isn't their first, as Petros released his inaugural album on Body Musick, Filmmaker's very own imprint.

On the flip side of this release, Petros Spatharos continues to embrace obscurity, a common thread that ties his music to that of his split partner. However, his sound is characterized by its cleanliness and a distinct lack of chaos. Instead, it embodies an underground techno vibe with a highly controlled tempo and eerie acid undertones that seem to echo from beyond the grave. This journey into the inferno is laden with dark emotional atmospheres and hypnotic textures, culminating in a track premiere titled "Maneuver To Infinity," which showcases Petros's signature style.

From the driving, mesmeric techno of Music Is A Spiritual Thing to the sci-fi electro on Bouncing Bell and Love Warrior’s downtempo, half-time shuffle, the collection of tracks is broad and varied yet simultaneously unified by belonging to the club.

Whether it’s warm-up material, peaktime rollers or afterhours sludge for tired legs and scrambled heads, there’s something for every scenario on Midnightlife Crisis.

And with recurring themes of melancholy and anxiety throughout, the album perhaps reflects that all too familiar period for every club enthusiast when the years are ticking by and the lights are coming on.

Shutters Studio Residency provides a new platform for artists from all genres to deep dive into one of Germany’s biggest collections of analog synthesizers and discover progressive sounds on vintage machines.

Shutters Studio Residency is a concept created and curated by Malte von der Lancken, head of booking at Uebel & Gefährlich club. The music is brought to you in collaboration with Berlin-based Kommerz Records.

The Synthesizer Studio Hamburg is located in the city’s iconic Feldstraßen bunker as a backstage extension of night club Uebel & Gefährlich. The studio was founded by local engineers Sunny Vollherbst and Frank Husemann in 2010. Both were heavily involved in the evolution of the Hamburger Schule, the early 2000s German songwriting movement starring bands such as Tocotronic, Blumfeld and Kettcar and form the electronic music duo Q2. Their collection spans around 30 vintage synthesizers, organs and pianos as well as 16 drum machines, beat boxes, drum synthesizers.
