Raag Bageshree/Bageshwari is a very beautiful raag of love. It depicts the emotions of pratiksha or awaiting of a lover and the main beauty of this raag lies in swars म ध & नि॒. In this raag swar प is eliminated generally, but used stylistically to anchor the beauty of its Ma and Dha.

Raag Details:
Bageshri is an old and ‘big’ raga, the warmth in its tones wraps the listener in enchantment. It finds mention in the older treatises as “Vageeshwari.”

Tu Kaun Kahan KI Gori

Vaari jaun re, the totally peppy Rajasthani/Kutchi/Malvi guru vandana folk song caught Vedanth and my attention first in The Rajasthan Kabir Yatra when Mooralamarwada made it our anthem.But when the real love happened was when we heard Mahesha Ram sing. With a lilt which spread in front me the entire desert, camels walking, caravans moving, the works. And everytime I hear or sing the powerful, humbling, joyous and beautiful imagery of my guru standing at my doorstep/courtyard gives me goosebumps. Here is a recording of singing in the great eastern mill, mumbai. Still working on the pronunciation.
