Queer For Fear: The History Of Queer Horror (Original Score and Soundtrack) contains score and title songs from the Emmy-nominated Shudder/AMC+ docuseries. Executive producer Bryan Fuller hand-selected recording artist ShyBoy’s “Backroom” as the theme song, describing it as a piece that “evokes dimly lit dance floors of a different kind.” When the time came for the Queer For Fear score to be written, Fuller invited ShyBoy to build on the Queer aesthetic of the theme by creating a soundscape that could propel the narrative of the show while playing a distinct character all its own. For the soundtrack release, ShyBoy recorded a duet version of the series' end title “Dildo Machine” with RuPaul's Drag Race superstar (and Queer For Fear commentator) Alaska Thunderfuck.
