Two Shots In the Arm

I wrote this song in support of my 'Buddha Daughter' who was learning how to do DIY on her boat. I liked the juxtaposition of a butterfly, a symbol of transformation, and the tools, often seen as masculine.  She sent me a photo of her holding a hammer in one hand and a screw driver in the other.  She'd was so tired that she'd called them both spanners.

Taxi Man

I have a dear friend whom I've known since she was 17.  She's now 32 and has become an extremely successful actor...as a result she is always so busy so I don't get to see her as often.  She has a phrase that she uses to try to explain her lack of communication due to over-work and says that she has 'fallen off the face of the planet'.  The narrator in the song takes full responsibility for any suffering implied and, apart from feeling sorry for himself, apportions no blame to her in any way.

53 Days

A song based on a Buddhist concept 'Honin Myo'. Translates roughly as 'everthing starts from here'. There is always a way to restart, while learning from past mistakes. The character in this song is suffering from regret and is feeling isolated. He then decides to get out for a walk and starts to feel a whole lot better, not burdened by guilt.

This is an energetic, upbeat indie pop song with a whiff of the 90s. Not so much about a romantic love affair, more a love affair with music.

I felt gutted when Collie left Brum for Cornwall..wrote this song and performed it the same evening.  However, we're still writing together and we were seen busking together in St Ives recently.  Anyways...its just a load of railroad track between us and our friendship as strong as ever :-)

A new single '2020 Vision (New Decade)' is released on 25th November 2020. It's a call to action to protect our planet.  All those glazed-eyed politicians need to see an optician because this decade is crucial with no time to lose!  I wrote this just before lockdown in the UK but then it was difficult to get into the studio so there was an inevitable delay.  I finally finished recording it in the summer with the studio set up for maximum social distancing.  Michael, amazing sound engineer and producer, had worked so hard to make this happen...what a guy!

2020 Vision (New Decade)

Shy Face Troubadour is a fresh project platform for my songs.  Previous releases have been under my name Tony Willé (not the Dutch country artist of the same name).  I have a love of lyrics and melody coupled with colourful chord choices and progressions.  I've played in a few bands around the Midlands including The DAY and PARMA VIOLETS and, most notably, the cult indie band, FELT.  I am a troubadour, a little shy, but paradoxically, never more at home than playing an intimate venue where I can sneak a peek at your faces.
