Andy and Martin return for another series of an A to Z of UK television drama and in time-honoured fashion are keeping it alphabetical. First up is the iconic Mike Leigh Play for Today: Abigail’s Party. 

Devised for the stage, and performed over a 100 times before it was recorded for television, Leigh’s kitsch classic sees the monstrous Beverley (a tour-de-force of a performance from Alison Steadman) preside over an evening soiree which she, her neighbours, and the viewing audience at home would never forget. 

Grab your cheese and pineapple on a cocktail stick, get the Beaujolais in the fridge and fire up Demis Roussos on your record player and strap in for this glorious window into the conventions and aspirations of 1976. Another gin and tonic? Sue? Ange? Tony? Okay?

2.1 Abigail's Party

Here we are for episode 547! This time Paul feels that Uncle Warren ought to be properly introduced to all the team now that he is a regular co-host; this happens but the two also chat about some more big years in British TV - this time it's the turn of 1976, 1985 and 1995! Also - not only do we have Sutton Park clips from the late 1990s, but it would appear that Warren has his fair share of admirers! Our next show, #548 sees us focusing on Yeti Uncle John who is experiencing delusions of grandeur - apparently everybody has been telling him that he's a genius!?! This can't be right, surely!?! Andy and Martin turn their attention to a cult sci-fi classic from 1981: John Wyndham's post-apocalyptic tale of man versus plant: The Day of the Triffids. The pair consider how the series has aged, how it compares to similar dramas and what elements still make it rollicking good fun.

Along the way they consider hospital and home decor, the Triffid Gun Christmas of 1981 and why Bill Masen is so bizarrely determined that Triffids are just dumb plants.

Episode 65 of the 'Round The Archives' podcast sees Martin Holmes considering 30 years of 'NYPD Blue'.

Paul Chandler welcomes new voice Muffleyontour to the 'Round The Archives' team as they take a look at two black-and-white Emma Peel episodes of 'The Avengers' : 'The Hour That Never Was' and 'The House That Jack Built'.

Finally, Andrew and Lisa come over all Tudor as they review 'The Shadow Of The Tower' (with some minor help from some random monarchs).

It's been a long time since my last appearance on Soundcloud, and a lot of things are changed. Many people stopped following me here, and this falls within the natural cycle of life. I had lost the desire to produce music due to a lot of situations I passed in these months. Furthermore, I never had a solid musical theory... And I would have liked to develop it to improve. But simply I couldn't. This is a problem that leads me to work a lot on my projects with discrete results. I thought to give up; then you start to receive proposals for collaboration by people that ,for some reason, wanna see you on point. I thought of you, guys ... that despite my gaps appreciate my musical taste. I thought of people who, through these proposals, always show their support.

I decided to start from scratch, aware of all the "bankruptcy" results I will get.
