The story of the song...

In Canton, Mississippi, 10-year-old Tonya Hailey is viciously brutalized and killed by two white racist rednecks -- . Almost immediately after Tonya is found, her killers are found at a roadside bar, where they had been bragging about what they did to Tonya. Tonya's understandably distraught and enraged father, remembers a case from a year ago, when four white men raped an African-American girl in a nearby town, and got acquitted. He is determined to not let that happen in this case. While the deputy is escorting the two up a flight of stairs to a court room, he emerges from the building's basement with an assault rifle, and he kills them for what they did to Tonya. He is later arrested at his house, and is scheduled to be placed on trial. . To start things off, the Judge denies bail and denies the Father's petition for a change of venue. One of the rapist/Killers' brother, Freddie, wants revenge on him, so gets the help of the Mississippi branch of the KKK,.That night, a KKK member is found trying to plant a bomb under his attorney's porch. His attorney's secretary is also attacked by the KKK. On the day the trial begins, there is a riot outside the court building between the KKK and the area's African-American residents,  Freddy and the KKK start burning crosses throughout Canton, As a result, the National Guard is called to Canton to keep the peace during the trial.

Without The Great Divide

As the silence shatters in the night
To the gunshot in the sky
And all the children run for cover
There's a sniper out of sight
Past their doors they heard the sound 
Of many pairs marching feet
Of the Paras making their presence felt
Upon this Belfast street
Adams does a hard day's work
And then he's homeward bound
As a British soldier, just 19, 
Lays wounded on the ground
Well he's taken to place for Queen and country
It's no surprise
As he draws his last breath, says a prayer
And then he dies

Too many dead civilians
Are just casualties of war
And do half the people know what it is
They're really fighting for?
Or has the whole point of it 
Just got lost in the mists of time
While the IRA take credit
For their latest crime
In a safehouse miles from nowhere
3 loyalists lying dead
All in an unmarked grave
With a bullet through the head
The next day the score was evened out 
Civilian Catholics slain
Through rumours of vengeance and fights to the death 
Calls to keep calm from Sinn Fein
