Time to welcome the return of Echonomist to TAU, as the prolific Greek producer comes through with a four track selection from his audio lab. Echonomist exudes versatility, with a discography that includes a wide range of styles, demonstrating his ability to explore different genres with confidence and flair. His last appearance on TAU was a collab with the label heads Adana Twins which hit No.1 in the Beatport Indie Dance chart. He’s also recently been releasing with Innervisions, as well as Kompakt. Echonomist has honed his sound, striking a delicate balance between emotion and rhythm, injecting authentic feeling into unadulterated dance floor moments...

 ‘Pothos’ (featuring Mr. Lookman on the guitar), another cut that merges a live band feel with electronic influences. The extended intro feels like a live on stage jam with guitarists and drummers hyping up the crowd. At just over 2 minutes 30, Echonomist introduces vintage synths, which take us back in time a few decades. As the track progresses, his playful approach produces electrifying moments of tension and release that make this one a special cut indeed.

French DJ and producer Nicolas Masseyeff collaborates with emblematic DJ, singer, and songwriter Kittin. Following a slew of joint releases on Systematic and Mobilee, the pair present a sultry, slow-burning number on Marc Romboy’s imprint. Present is a track from Nicolas’ long-awaited album, with remixes supplied by the label’s founder and Avision.

Present opens a low-slung bassline and ascending keys, with Kittin's sultry and seductive vocals shaping the mood of the track. It carries a late-night, candlelit atmosphere, offering an enticing glimpse into Nicolas' upcoming album. On Marc Romboy's remix, the seminal artist mutates the stems to serve a straight-up, club-driven banger, with a prog-tinged synthline snaking through the soundscape. On Present feat. Kittin (Avision Remix), the New Yorker leaves a dark tint on the track. Pummelling drums and a smattering of percussion whip up the pace, as Kittin's chopped-up vocals add a sense of urgency. One for the techno heads.

Raised on the French Riviera, Nicolas Masseyeff started out as a local record dealer before purchasing his own shop, Limelight, establishing it as the most respected vinyl haunt in the South of France. Having pursued music production full-time since the late noughties, Nicolas has released on Systematic, KD Music, Mobilee and several other esteemed imprints. Collaborations with Kittin, Oxia and Parallelle wind throughout his back catalogue, as well as remixes for Frankyeffe, Pig&Dan, Nikola Gala and more. Electroclash pioneer Kittin is an acclaimed producer, DJ, songwriter and singer. The Grenoble native has worked with several names from The Hacker to Hot Since 82 and has produced her own solo records on labels like Zone and wSphere. German artist Marc Romboy is the founder of Systematic Recordings, renowned for its electrohouse sound. Marc himself is a world-recognised producer, with rolling releases on Kompakt, Cocoon and his own imprint Systematic. New Yorker Avision is no stranger to labels like Ellum, Drumcode, Hardgroove, and Machine, where he's released his chunky tunes and dynamic, club-driven cuts.

We are both very happy to welcome back Marino Canal on Siamese. Everyone remembers his first record for us well, a timeless yet forward thinking and fresh release that's tough to beat. Marino made it possible though, his upcoming `Provenance` EP is a clear evolution of his style, mature, intelligent and ready for 2020.

'Curious Eyes' is the track we received first. We’re playing it since quite a while and it easily stood the test of time. Marino’s gift of creating energetic and powerful yet lush tracks is very unique and this song surely tells a story. Truly a great piece of modern dance music. 

Next is ‚Provenance‘, the title track of the EP. Similar to 'Curious Eyes‘ it starts gentle while giving the selector some time and space for mixing
and creating something artful while playing this out. As the deep and mellow chords soak you into the track the remaining layers are steering towards the climax where ‚Provenance' reveals its full potential. And before its even finished you want to hear it all over again.

'Dreamt of Tomorrow‘, the final cut of the release makes it even harder to pick a favorite and we're considering if we should have kept at least one track for the next
EP. Kidding aside, there’s nothing stopping Marino’s ever evolving expertise and this track resembles how a dream of tomorrow could feel like. Beauty, hope and kindness on one hand, madness, destruction and anger on the other. A perfect way to close a great record and there could be no better entry into 2020 for Siamese.
