toploader is rooted in the family of the Fluid Festival and dares to leave his mark on the wide spectrum of musical selectors. 
He kickstarted his first year of public djing at Hamburg club Institution [PAL] with his bestie dj fako followed by gigs at Jupiter, Callshop Radio, and Akashic Records.

He is passionate about percussive tunes with driving baselines, swift stabs, and deep ambient synth waves. His soundscapes oscillate between gritty, eerie, violent techno and rather uplifting house that he likes to blend with complex rhythms reminiscent of dembow and dancehall.

On his bi-monthly radio show "transcending w/ toploader" on nkfunky.com he showcases his favorite tracks that usually won't end up in his DJ sets.

With our NEST Sessions mix series we want to open up space for friends and family of Mamagei to show off their sound, vision, creativity, and passion and increase visibility for artists that we think are worthy of your attention. NEST-Session aims to display all kinds of electronic music beyond the genre norm and allow artistic freedom in all directions.

toploader (@toploading) is rooted in the now-defunct family of Fluid Festival (R.I.P.), having made early appearances alongside his bestie dj fako at Hamburg’s club institution [PAL] in 2022, followed by gigs at Jupiter, Callshop & Sicnal Radio, Akashic Records, and Paloma. These days, he’s shifting into more introspective territory, curating ambient and listening sessions with events with Transmute in a questionable attempt to rebrand himself as “thoughtful.”

Musically, he has (allegedly) matured — drifting away from uninspired 4/4 techno and house toward deeper, more hypnotic, and non-linear soundscapes. Think dubby textures, tribal rhythms, and percussive, reverberated deep techno — because nothing screams originality like dramatic, cinematic pads and echoes.

He most definitely does not break boundaries or bend genres. Instead, he plays what he likes (and what he almost certainly shazamed off someone else’s digging efforts). Toploader values about flow, cohesion, and subtlety. Neither especially known for his stellar mixing nor his careful selections, he’s presenting to you today: all things dub.
